With summer coming up, teenagers everywhere are planning ahead so there’s not a moment this summer that isn’t filled with something exciting. There’s a lot of things you could do this summer, but here are 16 that MUST be done:
1. RELAX.
This might be an obvious one, and this might be completely impossible if you’re one of those broke college students that plans on working all summer, but relaxing for four months can’t sound any better.
2. Float the river.
This is one of those things you must do before you reach a certain age. Not saying it gets boring once you reach adulthood, but the thrilling feeling you get while floating the river with your friends can’t possibly be missed out this summer (especially if you’re like me, and you love the thrill of doing risky stuff).
3. Change something.
I don’t mean dye your hair bright pink, or completely change your personality, but change is good for the soul. Maybe pick up a new habit, or change your view about someone who wants to be friends. Go crazy.
4. Read a book.
There was always homework before — or a project due, or just sleep needing to be caught up on. With nearly four months of overwhelming freedom, there’s time to do things you couldn’t before. Read a book, expand your mind.
5. Speaking of sleep…
SLEEP LIKE YOU’RE DEAD. There has never been a better time to sleep than those warm summer nights after swimming the majority of the day.
6. Soak up some Vitamin D.
The sun will be out, bright and shining this summer, so don’t waste the color you could be giving your skin. (Not too much though, you don’t want to get fried!)
7. Spend time with your family.
If you’re a college student, you’ve been away from your family for nine months. It’s time to clear up those spider webs in your room and become part of the family again.
8. Spend time alone.
Sometimes, the stress of school work gets to our minds, and we lose ourselves in the midst of exams and papers due.
9. Hang out with old friends.
Being away at college for nine months probably made you miss your old high school friends, so what’s a better time to hang out with them than this summer?
10. But don’t lose contact with the friends you made during college.
They say you meet your lifetime best friends in college, so make sure not to lose contact with them while you’re away for four months.
11. Visit your grandparents.
Not only are they the people you owe all your respect to, but they miss you more than you think they do! So stop by, eat whatever your grandma will offer you, and make sure they know you love them.
12. Take summer classes.
Yuck, right? I know I’m contradicting myself, since earlier in the article I said relax, but being ahead of the game in credits is worth it in the long run. Besides, it’s only a couple hours a week!
13. Go to an outside concert.
One thing I’ve learned in college is to appreciate the outdoors, since I’m in class majority of the time. So what’s better than music and the sun shining?
14. Spend the day at a beach.
In every state (usually), there’s a beach not far from where you live. Whether it’s an actual beach by the ocean, or the beach at the lake, making sand castles and swimming in fresh water is never a bad time.
15. Take time away from your phone.
If you’re anything like me, your phone is always in your hand no matter what. This summer, try and stay away from any electronics for that matter and focus on what’s around you.
16. Lastly, enjoy your summer!
You only have so many more summers until you’re working full time and summer doesn’t exist, so enjoy it now!
