1. Go for a walk.

Exercise and fresh air never fail to put you in a better mood.

2. Call someone you haven't talked to in a while.

Reconnecting with an old friend can instantly brighten up your day.

3. Dance

Are you a good dancer? (Trick question, it doesn't matter) Dance it out.

4. Workout

On the same page as dancing, physical activity releases endorphins that relieve stress and clear your mind.

5. Color or do dot-to-dot therapy

Adult coloring books have been all the rage lately, and it's because they really do work.

6. Go for a drive

Get lost, find a good scenic route and just enjoy your surroundings.

7. Have some alone time

Taking time for yourself is always important. Take the time to reflect and find the good in what you're doing.

8. Take a hot shower

Something magical and cleansing happens when you take a long, hot shower that leaves you feeling refreshed.

9. Call your Mom

For some of us this is the first thing we do. Personally, I find that my Mom knows me better than I know myself. She almost always has the answers and when she doesn't, she sure as hell is going to help me find them.

10. Clean

Clean anything or everything. Decluttering your surroundings gives us a sense of organization which can relieve stress and leave us feeling accomplished.

11. Rest

Take a frickin nap. Sleep deprivation is one of the biggest issues in today's world. Rest and sleep can instantly improve your mood and clear a foggy mind.

12. Chocolate

We've all heard the studies about how eating chocolate creates the same sentiment as love, right? Well, for once let's not challenge this science based myth and just let loose. Eat as little or as much as you want. Eat and don't have any regrets. Chocolate =Love.

13. Learn something new

Learning allows us to forget our troubles and focus on the task at hand. Whether it be something as simple as tying a new knot or something as intricate as a new instrument or language, allow yourself the opportunity to learn and engage.

14. Treat yo self.

Often times we use this phrase as a joke, but in this case, just do it. Give yourself a limit, $10 or $20, and indulge. They don't call it retail therapy for nothing.

15. Write

Write about what upsets you, what makes you happy, things you're thankful for, people you love, make a list of things to do, or things not to do. Just put words on paper.

16. Cry

We all would like to think we're too strong to cry, but the harsh reality is that sometimes crying is the best way to get over whatever it is that's making you feel so down. Crying can help us get over the biggest issues; like the tears running down our face are taking the worries with them.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
