16 Things To Do When Bored In Class

We all have that one class we try so hard to be present for. I’m not talking about physically present, I’m talking about mentally present. You attend the first two weeks and think you can do it. You will listen and take notes like the good college student you are. But as a month begins to roll around, you suddenly feel your eyes grow heavy, your mind starts to wonder, and you’re left with the painful job of sitting in a class that is royally evil. Open those eyes and your handy-dandy laptop; I’ve got some pretty awesome things to do online that will keep you looking at least a little more alive and well. Here’s a list of 16 things to do on your computer when class isn’t the most exciting thing in the world:

1. Facebook:

The obvious choice. Just don’t find yourself on the profile of the person sitting next to you.

2. Twitter:

Another obvious choice, but there’s nothing better than indulging in all of your friend’s super important thoughts.

3. Instagram:

Original, but those “instafamous” celebrities can’t get those likes by themselves!

4. YouTube:

If the professor allows you to use headphones, then by all means watch all of those crazy cat videos!

5. iMessage:

Apple users know what I’m talking about. Texting while not actually using a phone, what more could you want?

6. Pinterest:

Here you can find creative ideas on basically anything your heart desires. As you are passing class time, you also are becoming more artistic by the minute. What fun!

7. Big Fish Games:

Why not enjoy some quality gaming time while listening to a totally awesome, okay really boring, lecture?

8. Sporcle:

Here you can find quizzes and trivia to use the knowledge that is slowly dissipating in this super exciting class.

9. Disney Channel Games:

For all of my fellow classmates that miss what used to be Disney Channel, find all of your favorite old games here. You may have to dig a little to find them, but I promise you they’re still there and ready to be played.

10. Netflix:

This is for my bold individuals. If you're feeling even more daring, maybe bring some popcorn and candy.

11. Online Shop:

Spend all of your money. Spend it all. Check out eBay, Amazon or Overstock, just to name a few!

12. Ellentube:

Watch Ellen Degeneres’ favorite videos and funniest moments. Just try not to laugh in class, that would be a dead give away that you're doing the opposite of what you’re supposed to be doing.

13. Bored Button:

Bored in class? Press the red button and all of your troubles will fade into oblivion.

14. Akinator:

Want something that will blow your mind? Check out this magic genie that will guess a certain person you’re thinking of. Warning: This game hurts your brain. He's just too good.

15. StumbleUpon:

Stumble your way into fun entertainment while also freeing yourself from boredom. This site has exciting pictures, fun activities, interesting articles and basically anything else to entertain you on the Internet.

16. App Store:

If you have an Apple laptop, then utilize the endless amounts of games or fun apps in the app store. Go crazy. Download them all.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
