18 Things That Make Me Feel Uncomfortable

I'd say about 50 percent of my life is spent in uncomfortable situations.

1. Watching sex scenes with my parents in the room

It doesn’t matter that me and my two other siblings are all adults now, I still get squeamish whenever a sex scene comes on when my parents are in the room.

2. Forgetting someone's name (especially someone important).

3. Urinary Tract Infections

Need I say more?

4. Having to pee really badly during my bus ride commute, but not wanting to get up and use the bus bathroom

By the time I finally give in and decide to use the bus bathroom, we’ve usually made it to the destination.

5. Having a young, attractive male doctor, boss, professor or coach

And you realize the age gap is not that large at all ...

6. Watching Taylor Swift rap with Fetty Wap.

Just watch it for yourself.

7. Getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist

The dentist is trying to talk to me, and I clearly can’t talk back, and I really, really want to swallow, but I can’t.

8. Talking to someone when she has something in her teeth or on her face and not knowing if I should interrupt the conversation to tell her, or just ignore it.

I don’t even know what you just said because all I see is that piece of broccoli.

9. The weight lifting section of the gym

Because 1) I can only imagine what the die-hard weight lifters are thinking of my feeble attempts to lift 20 pounds. 2) Men who want to “teach you” how to lift properly.

10. Getting hit on by strangers, especially when they ask for my number, and I really don't want to give it.

11. When people use the word “gay” as a slang term as in “that’s so gay.”

It’s not only because I have family members and close friends who are gay that I take offense to this type of usage, but it’s also because most people in modern society know that this is no longer acceptable.

12. Cross-country races

Your legs kill, you feel like you’re going to throw up, and you can’t breathe.

13. Wearing high heel shoes

After a summer working in high-end retail, I’m pretty sure I’ve taken a few years off of my life simply by wearing heels every day.

14. Witnessing a public fight or argument, especially when it's a parent yelling at a young child.

15. Long car rides

My legs are cramping, I have to pee, and we've been stuck in traffic for the past three hours.

16. Being too cold

I'm one of those people that would rather be too hot than too cold.

17. Having my period.

18. Eating too much peanut butter.

I really feel uncomfortable when I eat too much of anything, but peanut butter is a food I find especially easy to overdose on. How am I down to half a jar after just one sitting?

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
