16 Things That Everyone Needs To Hear

As a college student in my early 20s, I really needed to hear this bit of encouragement. Life just hasn't been going according to plan recently and I've been feeling a little rough. Whether you are down in the dumps like me or doing just fine, these are all some things that everyone needs to hear at this time of life. Listen up!

1. You are smart.

You may not feel like it sometimes, but believe me you are. Find what you're good at and own it!

2. You are beautiful.

Everyone in beautiful in their own way. Some on the outside, some on the inside. You're gorgeous, honey!

3. You are strong.

You have made it through so many things up to this point, you got this. Stay positive, push through.

4. You will make it through.

You have made it through 100% of the days you've experienced. That's a pretty great track record if you ask me!

5. People love you.

No matter what, there will always be someone who will love you. Your pets count too! Remember you are their world.

6. You are worth something.

Everyone brings something to the table, now matter how small. Bring it.

7. This wont last forever.

"This too shall pass.." I know it's cliche, but hey it's true. Hang in there.

8. Their opinion does not matter.

Other people's opinions are just that, not yours. What other people say about you is none of your business. Keep your head up and do you!

9. You don't have to settle.

If it's not good enough, it's not good enough. You know what you want and need. Get it.

10. It's okay to let people go.

Never let anyone hold you back, ever. You can always make knew friends, you can't always make new opportunities. Evolving is good. Evolving is natural.

11. You are unique.

You're you and there is nobody else like you. You're the best you there is. Everyone is unique in their own way.

12. It's okay to ask for help.

Asking for help doesn't make you any less of a person or any less intelligent. By asking for help you are learning from someone who's been there. That's a pretty smart move if you ask me!

13. You don't have to please everyone.

You do not live to make everyone happy. No. Not even a little. If you aren't happy at night, change some things. You should be looking to satisfy yourself and your goals first beyond anyone else's.

14. Everything happens for a reason.

I know this one is cliche too, but it's true. Doors close and doors open. It might not be today, or even next week, but things will follow through. Keep pushing.

15. Do what you love.

Forget the money for a second. Doing what you love and being happy with your life is more important than having money to spend on things. I'd rather be paycheck to paycheck than miserable. Nothing is worth being miserable.

16. You are enough.

Say it with me now. You are enough. I am enough. You are you and I am me. We're the best that we can be. Now go out there and kick some butt like I know you can!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
