  1. The New Year resolutions I didn't follow through with.

It happens to the best of us. “I want to lose weight” or “I’m going to save money” are common resolutions that are soon abandoned after the New Year. I’ll try to stay strong this year, but then again, that’s what I say every year.

2. The death of Alan Rickman.

Rest in peace, Severus Snape. You will always be missed.

3. Leonardo DiCaprio FINALLY won an Oscar.

What a truly wonderful achievement to celebrate.

4. I won Prom Queen at my senior prom on my 18th birthday.

And what a crazy day it was! Definitely one for the books.

5. Harambe was killed in a Cincinnati zoo.

Such a terrible incident that left hundreds of people outraged.

6. Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke star in 'Me Before You.'

Seriously, could the month of May get any sadder? This heart-wrenching movie makes you question everything about life and love, meaning and purpose. A definite must-see.

7. I graduated high school.

Hallelujah.

8. Hillary Clinton became the first female Democratic Party candidate.

Clinton makes United States history as she becomes the first woman nominated for a major political party position.

9. Pokemon Go.

College campuses, libraries, supermarkets, shopping malls, and street corners were swarmed with eager Pokemon Go players as they find the nearest PokeStop.

10. I moved out of my parent's house.

Dreams really do come true.

11. Harry Potter and The Cursed Child Parts I & II.

J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne had fans bending over backwards to read this 8thHarry Potter story. I was definitely one of those fans.

12. I traveled to Orlando, FL.

It was my first time on the East Coast, and I spent the week at Universal Studios and the Kennedy Space Center. It was a great vacation, but I wouldn’t recommend visiting in July unless you want to drown in your own sweat.

13. I began writing for The Odyssey.

I love to write and I love The Odyssey – it just makes sense.

14. The Cubs win the World Series.

After 108 years of waiting, the Cubs officially win a World Series Title.

15. The 2016 Presidential Election.

Emotional, surprising, and intriguing. That’s all I have to say.

16. I completed my first semester of college at Utah Valley University.High School doesn’t prepare you for college at all,

but I am happy to be in college and I’m grateful for the opportunities that are presented to me.

Farewell, 2016! It's been quite the year.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
