16 Things You Can Do Instead Of Worrying About A Boy

In This Article:

Boys in college are typically more interested in having fun rather than settling down. While I'm the type of girl who is looking for a long-lasting love, every boy that I find seem to want more of a fling. But you know what, if you're like me and you feel like you're worried about finding a worthwhile boy, here is a list of things you can focus your energy on instead of boys.

1. Go on a bike ride.

Literally biking is SO FUN!

2. Get lunch with friends.

Call up some of your best friends and spend the afternoon together! Take cute pictures while you're all dressed up and the sun is shining so you can post them and he can eat his heart out, you're welcome.

3. Spend time with your sisters.

Your sisters are there to support and love you! Go spend some time with them!

4. Exercise.

Exercising doesn't just tone up your body, it also cleanses your mind and gives you a more positive mood change! Exercising is so good for you in so many ways!

5. Join a club.

Getting involved is a great way to maximize your time and an amazing opportunity to make new friends! I have gotten myself involved in Student Government, Greek Life, and so many more organizations and I have never looked back!

6. Write.

I've always found writing out how I'm feeling or what I am thinking about to be very therapeutic!

7. Read a book.

BOOKS ROCK!!! HUFFLEPUFF FOREVER!!!

8. Pet a dog.

A dog will love you just for being you! Dogs show you what true love really feels like by getting excited when they meet you and giving you little kisses when you're near them. Dogs are honestly sooooo much better than boys. #DogMom4Life

9. Start binge-watching a new show.

One time I got ghosted by this guy I really liked and to help ease the pain and get my mind off of him, I binge watched How I Met Your Mother and now it's my favorite show!

10. Eat chicken nuggets.

Chicken nuggets don't care if you aren't wearing makeup while you're with them and chicken nuggets will give you that warm feeling inside that a man won't.

11. Do some karaoke.

There's nothing like getting your emotions out like singing Carrie Underwood at the top of your lungs!

12. Go shopping.

Retail therapy always helps! ;)

13. Change your hair.

Getting a haircut or a color change makes you feel like a new person and can really boost your self esteem!

14. Get a job.

This probably sounds like the least fun thing to do on this list but actually I think it's a good way to pass the time. No phone, making new friends, and you're getting paid for it!

15. Watch a romcom.

Dirty Dancing and How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days have always been my go-to movies.

16. Treat yo self to a night out.

I always enjoy getting all dolled up to go to a fancy restaurant, so take yourself out on a nice date! It's a great way of showing appreciation and love for yourself rather than relying on someone else to do that for you.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
