16 Things You Experience When You Live Far Away From Your BFF

You got a friend in me.

Having chosen to attend Gonzaga on the other side of the country from my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA brings a few problems despite all the adventure I've experienced. The west coast is like a foreign country to me, so of course staying in touch with friends at home is important as they remind me of home. But maintaining these relationships can definitely be difficult. Here are a few common occurrences I'm sure many other people experience too.

1. You pretty much aren't able to watch a live TV show together because someone is always busy.

2. You always feel loved in the morning because there are always texts and missed calls waiting for you.

3. Leaving those voicemails or long text messages can really get your creative juices flowing.

4. One of you is sleeping 90 percent of the time you're available to talk.

5. Sending those care packages end up costing you as much as your coffee budget.

6. Sometimes you message their mom instead of them because they're just as exciting.

7. You try to live vicariously through their snap stories.

8. You go back into the depths of Facebook and find those embarrassing videos and photos you took in middle school only to share them for all to see.

9. When you hear anything about their school or city you like to send them the link because it makes you feel like you know what they're going through.

10. Too much of what you say seems to just be 'I miss you'.

11. The count down to school breaks are incredibly grueling since you know you'll only have a little time together.

12. Which makes coordinating family time with different break schedules awful.

13. Liking and commenting on all their Instagram posts is just a way to show you care.

14. You realize how much a birthday card or a hand-written note can really make you feel loved.

15. Most of your conversations end up being about when you'll do when you see each other again.

16. But none of those struggles matter when you realize how great it is that nothing has changed after being separated.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
