Let’s face reality. Coffee is a staple for many Americans, especially among college students. I know this is true for myself. You call yourself a coffee addict and those around you laugh or roll their eyes. But it’s real. You can’t go a day without it. So, in honor of the Venti size coffee at Starbucks, which holds 20 fluid ounces of coffee.

So, below are 20 things all coffee addicts know to be true:

1. You’re not a person until you've had your morning cup of coffee

The people around you know not to even say good morning until you have some coffee in your system.

2. If you miss your morning coffee, you feel the headache coming on by 11 AM

And you just know it’s the kind of headache that only a strong cup of hot coffee will fix.

3. And for the headache, espresso drinks just don’t cut it

Dark roast black, no room for milk or cream, please. You need every single drop of coffee that can fit in the cup. The sugar and the milk in espresso drinks take away from the amount of coffee you could be consuming.

4. About two-thirds of your money goes to coffee

Whether it’s buying more K-Cups or cups of coffee from coffee shops, you’re fully aware that coffee is where your money goes

5. You’re not sorry you spend that much on coffee

Because it’s necessary for survival so it’s worth the $3 here and there.

6. People get after you because it’s 4 PM and you have a fresh cup of coffee in your hands

Hey, it’s never too late for a coffee fix. And to deal with people, coffee is mandatory.

7. You joke that when you get a paper cut, you bleed coffee

There comes a point when you know it’s not blood running through your veins anymore—it’s pure coffee.

8. The difference between old coffee and fresh coffee is astounding

There’s nothing like a cup of freshly-brewed coffee. And when you direly need the coffee and you get some that tastes like it’s been sitting for hours, it literally throws off your entire day. Because there’s $3 gone for coffee you can’t even drink. The struggle is real.

9. You don’t even notice the effects caffeine has on you anymore

Your friends tell you that if they drink coffee, they’ll get really jittery and will be up all night. But for you, you drink your coffee and feel normal. In fact, sometimes, the best naps come after you drink a cup of coffee.

10. You know where to go for inexpensive, good coffee

Gone are the days of spending $4 on coffee that’s not even that good. After a while, you know you have to cut down the cost, anyway. So, you make it a priority to scour the area for coffee that’s good and not as expensive.

11. Sometimes, there’s nothing like an iced coffee

Again, dark roast black, no room. And you know when you need it hot and when you need it iced. A good iced coffee when you need it has the power to transform your mindset.

12. There is a relatively small window of time in which to drink your coffee

After a while, you figure out how much time to give your coffee to cool so you don’t burn your tongue. By the same token, you know not to wait too long because there’s almost nothing worse than cold coffee that’s not supposed to be cold.

13. You’re not all that concerned about your coffee addiction

People tell you it's not good, but you’re not too concerned because after all, there are worse things you could be addicted to.

14. Coffee is the perfect study break

When you’ve been working or studying for a while and you’re in need of a study break, going to get coffee is the perfect thing to do. It gives you an opportunity to walk a bit and stretch out, and when you get back to work, you have a nice hot cup of coffee to help you along.

15. You often think about trying something new, but when you order, you rattle off your typical order

Because a grande hot coffee black never goes out of style.

16. You’re perfectly content with this part of who you are

After all, you wouldn't be the same without coffee—and that would change everything.

17. Your local baristas know exactly what you're about to order, you don't even have to say anything.

"The usual" suffices.

18. You have a favorite mug.

And you worry about breaking it/misplacing it.

19. You're proud that you're a coffee addict-- it's part of your brand.

You wouldn't quit it even if you could.

20. You don't know why anyone would ever order anything but a large (or Venti) cup of coffee.

Because a large is small enough as it is.

So, raise your cup. Here’s to the coffee addicts who know all of these things are true. Here’s to the the coffee addicts that don’t plan on changing. And here’s to the coffee addicts who are reading this article, either drinking coffee or waiting in line to order. I see you.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
