16 Things 2016 Taught Me

Last year was a year of change for me. I have had my heartbroken, lost friends and lost myself in 2016, but 2016 has also been some of the worst but best times of my entire life. I have learned so much about myself and others this past year and have had to learn some hard lessons along the way of this year. Here are a few things I have learned throughout this year....

1. You outgrow people sometimes and that is okay.

2. People do not always turn out to be who you thought they were.

3. In order for someone to love you, you must learn to love yourself first.

4. Heartbreak is real, but so is love. Feel them both as they come and go.

5. You have to stop searching for a why at some point and just leave it alone.

6. Friends can break your heart too.

7. Whoever broke your heart now will not matter 4 months down the road. Trust me on this.

8. Things can change so fast and quickly so learn to enjoy the moment while it's still here.

9. In order to grow as a person you must be uncomfortable at times.

10. God does not always give you what you want, but he does give you what you need. Even if you don't think you need it. Learn to trust in him.

11. Your friends are your soulmates, no man could ever complete you the way they can. Don't forget them when you fall in love.

13. Your body is a temple. Respect it and cherish it and do not let somebody abuse it.

14. Life can get really messy sometimes. Embrace the beautiful mess you're.

15. It's okay to not be okay some days. Life did not come with an instruction manual on how it works.

16. All you have at the end of the day is yourself.

It's important to leave the past in the past, but don't let history repeat itself. Take the lessons learned with you into 2017 and keep moving forward.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out.
