“You said people come here to change the story of there lives. I imagined a story where I didn’t have to be the Damsel.”

Yet every time finals come around, I still find myself feeling like the damsel in distress. Whether it's your first finals week, or your last...they never seen get much easier. But at least we can know exactly what to expect.

1. Holding off on starting to study for as long as possible.

Maybe if I just memorize 200 flashcards Monday and 200 more Tuesday, I can spend the entire weekend watching my show...

2. Walking into the Library at the beginning of the week, knowing you'll be spending the next 5 days there.

And so it begins.

3. Opening your study guides for the first time.

Maybe starting the night before wasn't the best idea after all.

4. Realizing majority of your notes are doodles.

Maybe the anatomy of a stick figure isn't that different than the human body's?

5. Your first all-nighter.

With a Red Bull and chips in hand, cramming a whole semester worth of learning into 8 hours is a lot easier than it seems.

6. Wandering the library for hours just to find a seat.

Glaring at every ignorant person who gives their backpack it's own seat.

7. Halfway through the week, when your friends become seriously worried about you.

No guys seriously, I'm not tired. My eyes are this puffy from all of the knowledge I'm filling them with.

8. Not listening when they tell you you're going to be okay because you know failure is a strong possibility.

What do you mean my life isn't over if I don't get a 100 on my math exam? I will definitely fail out and never amount to anything if this exam does not go absolutely perfect.

9. Going to take your first exam, having no idea if you're ready or not.

Not only have I not slept in 36 hours, but I can't remember which flash-cards were for biology and which were for psychology...

10. Getting there and not knowing anything.

C'mon brain...don't let me down now.

11. Suffering through a mental breakdown when you realize you still have more exams to take.

These are tears of happiness, I can't wait to have another sleepover with all of my friends in the library.

12. Walking into that last exam, focusing only on getting it over with ASAP.

Once I hit submit it's all over, no more pain...no more suffering.

13. Accepting defeat.

Being a stripper can't be that bad? Maybe just as a side-gig?

14. Going to beg your scary teacher for that one point you need to get an A.

More like hysterically crying to some man who doesn't know your name until he gets so uncomfortable he agrees to give you the .6% you need.

15. Finally being done.

I'm relieved it's over, but now I have to wait to see just how horrible I really did.

16. Realizing you didn't do that bad after all.

Deep down you knew it all along.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
