It was right before freshman year. You had to pick a dorm to live in and you didn't know much about the differences between them, aside from that most freshmen end up living in Jester. During the summer, UT housing played with your emotions, waiting until you'd almost given up hope before finally sending out word that you would indeed call Jester home. Jester is a complex place, with different sections that vary greatly. You got stuck with an un-renovated room in Jester West.

"It won't be that bad, right?"

1. Your couch-bed needed a huge upgrade.

2. And sometimes you couldn't open it.

3. Going home to your own bed was the best feeling.

4. JCL was your second home.

5. All of your friends could move their furniture except for you.

6. The jail cell bricks made you regret living there.

7. You can't get the old wood smell out of your system.

8. The squeaky noises everything made scared you a bit...

9. ...but everything was a short walking distance...

10. ...except if you had classes in the communication or engineering areas.

11. Even if you tried to stay away from Wendy's you couldn't. It was literally downstairs.

12. You would hear aspiring musicians practicing in the middle of the night in the staircase.

13. The shower heads in the community bathrooms were about four feet tall.

14. You didn't have space for anything.

15. It was either freezing cold or hot, but you couldn't do anything about it.

16. Your closet door didn't make sense.

17. But you're glad you didn't have to deal with the San Jac hill.

You had your ups and downs with Jester West, but you made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories thanks to it. Even so, you're glad your relationship with it is over.

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
