The rivalry between Michigan and Ohio is super tense and a huge deal. This is mostly because of the big college football rivalry between the University of Michigan Wolverines and The Ohio State Buckeyes. You're either a Michigan fan, Ohio State fan, or an irrelevant Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan (sorry). In my opinion, Michigan football is better (Go Blue). Besides college football, the state of Michigan is overall a better place to visit, live and most importantly: isn't Ohio. Here are 16 reasons why Michigan is better than Ohio.

1. The shape of the state

Michigan is the shape of a mitten. Isn't that awesome?! Ohio has a super basic shape.

2. Great Lakes

What makes Michigan even greater than Ohio is the Five Great Lakes, even when only 4/5 border Michigan.

3. Ann Arbor

This artsy town is home to the University of Michigan, fun shops and restaurants to go to.

4. Bigger

Michigan is much bigger than Ohio. The bigger the better, right?

5. Two parts

Going along with Michigan being bigger, Michigan actually has two parts to the state: the Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula.

6. Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons, Lions

Detroit has four professional sports team in one city. That's pretty amazing. And they are all well known and have won a combined total of 8 championships in the last 30 years.

7. Cooler state flag

Just look at it.

8. Better license plates

Prettier and lots of choices.

9. Fewer cops

How do you think Michigan drivers get away with speeding so much?

10. Two Big Ten schools

Michigan State University and the Univeristy of Michigan. U of M is ranked #1 while OSU is ranked #6 as universities according to niche.com.

11. Traverse City

This is a perfect little town near the top of the mitten. It makes for a great vacation with long, sandy beaches along Lake Michigan. Ohio towns can't compete with TC.

12. Sand Dunes

There are so many sand dunes in Michigan where you can camp and take dune buggies on. I personally like Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. You can't find that kind of fun in Ohio.

13. Better Ranking

If you want to get political, Michigan is ranked 33 on U.S. News & World Report’s new ranking of best states while Ohio is ranked at 35. This ranking is based on health care, education, government, crime, state economy etc.

14. Mackinac Island

"Mac-in-aw" Island is in Northern Michigan and home to the famous Mackinac Island Fudge. This is another beautiful place to visit while in Michigan. Ohio's Put-in-Bay is nothing compared to this island.

15. Tahquamenon Falls

These waterfalls are one of the most well-known falls in Michigan. They are located in a beautiful state park. Michigan has many state parks and waterfalls to visit and hike to. Once again, Ohio cannot compete with this kind of beauty and nature.

16. It's not Ohio

Enough said.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
