Cheers to the end of the year that brought us Zika, Scary Clowns, and Harambe

16 Reasons Why We Will Never Speak Of 2016 Again

January 1st, 2017. The first day of the new year. This day brings about hope and the prospect of change. We all vow to drink more water and eat more vegetables, stay off of our phones and be more present. Our minds spring into purging mode and voila! The new year, new us has arrived. How long will the "new us" stay? Depends, could be a few weeks, months, maybe a few hours. As we slip back into our old, true selves, we may take comfort in one thing: 2016 is over, and we will never speak of that year again.

1. Scary Clowns

I just have a few questions...Why? and Where? These creepy dudes were gone as fast as they arrived. I went from being terrified to walk my dog at night to completely forgetting the jerks even existed. All within a few weeks. That was not fun while it lasted.

2. Beloved Harambe

This entire situation was completely unpredictable and out of control. I guess I completely underestimated the human population and it's ability to make anything become as absurd as possible. From shot glasses to billboards, Harambe will always be a front runner event in 2016.

3. The Zika Virus

Just a little known virus from Africa that took over the year 2016. From not even being on medical radars to instilling fear in every single person that came in contact with a mosquito. Those bites are annoying enough as it is, now let us add the mere thought of an epidemic. Well done Zika, also... you went away fast?

4. "Dabbin"

Okay, Okay, so 2015 had "The Whip", 2013 had the "Harlem Shake", I guess 2016 just had the terrible luck of being dealt the dance move Dabbin. On another note, meet the future leaders of America ladies and gentlemen. P.S. Cannibis users are extremely confused as to how all of a sudden everyone and there grandmother are "dabbin".

5. Brexit

In 2016 we all were witnesses to one of the worst break-ups of the year, Britain and the European Union. Although the relationship will not be completely severed until March 2017, Brittan announced their exit (Brexit) back in June of 2016. I wonder who gets the kids?

6. Pokemon Go

If you thought our generation were a group of mindless, screen-staring zombies, you haven't seen anything until you have seen us play Pokemon Go. I am shocked our eyeballs did not melt out of our skulls from staring at the screen so much. On the plus side we have never walked through so many beautiful trails and beaches before...not that we actually SAW any of it..by the way... does any one still play? Team valor are you there?

7. Disney Alligator Attack

As much as Disney has portrayed animals as friendly and if you sing they will come right up to you... Disney is still wrong. Regardless of your stance on this tragic event we can all agree that it was indeed tragic. The most magical place on earth could not have seen this coming and neither could we.

8. Exploding Cell Phones

So we have to watch out for mosquitos, alligators, gorillas, and ...cell phones? This is the future....thanks 2016.

9. The Entire Presidential Election

We are half-way there so get ready for the mic drops. I could not title this event any differently. The ENTIRE election was one of the most ludicrous events in history I have ever witnessed. If I read about this in a history book I would have thought it was a fictional story. I can't wait to travel the world and have all of the other countries point and laugh. #PresidentElection2016

10. Terror Attacks on the Rise

Some days the media shows it's viewers things like Pokemon Go and Harambe. Other times it showcases true, tragic events such as recent terror attacks in France, Istanbul, and Brussels. I truly wish for the year of 2017 to bring about more love, peace, and understanding amongst us all.

11. Rickman, Wilder, & Hendersen

Essentially the list of loss could go on for much longer. 2016 was brutal in the sense of celebrity deaths. Our hearts were ripped from our chests so many times I never want to look back. Hang in there Betty White!

12. Montreal & Pit Bulls

Here we are thinking Canada might not be such a bad place to live after our Presidential Election, and then they go and try to ban Pit Bulls from there country! Maybe Canada has bigger problems than we thought. Or maybe they do not have enough problems to keep themselves occupied since they want to exile helpless puppies out of their country! Dear Canada, that was rude.

13. Brangelina

Brexit has some break-up competition. We never thought we would see the day when our Brad and Angelina would come to an end. 2016 saw the day when the divorce would come true. All good things come to an end I guess, and luckily so does 2016.

14. Orlando Shooting

Maybe it is not 2016's fault but there were too many hate crimes and terrorist attacks for one year. The Orlando shooting has gone down in history as the deadliest incident against LGBT people. Hopefully this piece of history will not repeat itself.

15. Prince, Bowie, & Cole

Again this is just the tip of the iceberg with the amazing talent that was lost in 2016. Thankfully their music lives on in our hearts <3.

16. May the Force be with Princess Leia

Just as we were about to say Peace Out 2016, the year had one more awful event, the world said goodbye to their beloved Princess Leia. Carrie Fisher passed away at the young age of 60 just days before the arrival of 2017.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
