- Learn how to cook. Seriously take lessons; it isn’t as hard as baking, I promise. You will feel really great about yourself afterward too.
- Find a hobby, preferably one that won’t drain your bank account. A good tip is to find one that keeps you in shape, so you can kill two resolutions with one stone.
- Get rid of negativity. People, attitudes, and ideas: get rid of anything that keeps you in a negative outlook on life.
- Go Cliff diving, or do something extreme to out of your comfort zone. The further you push yourself the more you will realize your potential.
- Take your parents to dinner to show them your appreciation. If it is a surprise they will really love it. Splurge on your parents. They have invested way more into you than you realize.
- Spend time making crafts for your friends that they will actually use. Stop painting canvases. Make something useful so when the recipient uses it they think of how thoughtful it was.
- Buy matching underwear. I promise it will make you feel so great even if no one else knows. And if you’re a guy go buy some really rad boxers. If you feel confident underneath everything, then it will eventually show through.
- Be dedicated to losing those last five pounds you’ve promised yourself you would get rid of every year. Every year you try for a month, and every year you gain back what you lost. Put an end to the stalemate and make some real progress. Don’t get too crazy, though. This is about health and happiness, not starvation and looking like a model.
- Create a bucket list for 2016. At the end of the year, you get to look back on all of the ones you accomplished! I’ve already started mine and I can’t wait to see the ones I accomplish.
- Dance with no music. Learn to stop caring about what others think and just do what makes you happy.
- Promise yourself that you will sleep more. Make sure you get your 8 hours and you will be energized to fulfill the requirements of each day!
- Make better grades! This one requires a lot of effort and you have to be dedicated. It will pay off in the end when you can look back and say you have an overall 3.25 GPA.
- Start a savings account. You never know when you will need that extra money in the future. Bad times will happen to everyone, so be smart while you can and save a little each month.
- Get organized. Buy yourself a new planner that you love. Go buy some colorful pens or highlighters. You will be impressed with how much you can get accomplished if you are organized.
- Be extra kind to those you aren’t normally friends with. Love everyone without conditions. These people have struggles you don’t know about, so lift them up with encouragement instead of bringing them down further.
- Appreciate your present day so you don’t waste time in the past or worry about the future. This might be the resolution I need to focus on the most. We all need to appreciate our days individually. If we worry too much about the future it will cloud out the fun we could be having in the present.
These are just a few suggestions of potential resolutions. I hope you can make a list of your own so you can make 2016 the best year yet!
