16 Life Lessons From Grey's Anatomy
Huffington Post

Grey's Anatomy has been filming since 2005, and each season brings new storylines. From plane crashes and hospital shootings to the loss of both McDreamy and McSteamy, it begs the question: Why do we keep tuning in? Well, in the midsts of the tragedy Grey's also shows us miracles. We see inoperable tumors removed, and we watched as "dark and twisty" Meredith created a family. Throughout the roughly 300 episodes, each character has grown and inspired the viewers in one way or another. Here are some lessons I have taken away:

1. This is your life. Conquer it!

"This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play? That's up to you?"-Richard Webber

2. Never Give Up.

“You just don’t give up. It’s lame. You’re not a quitter. That’s not who your are.” -Alex Karev

3. Every challenge brings new opportunities.

"Just when we think we figured things out, the universe throws us a curveball. So we have to improvise. We find happiness in unexpected places. We find ourselves back to the things that matter most. The universe is funny that way. Sometimes it just has a way of making sure we wind up exactly we we belong."- Meredith Grey

4. Fight for you yourself.

"Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone here and don't give a damn about what anyone thinks."-Cristina Yang.

5. Embrace challenges.

“The scars you bear are the sign of a competitor. You are in a lion fight. Just because you don’t always know how to win, doesn’t mean you don’t know how to roar.”- Richard Webber

6. The important part is not that you failed, but that you get back up.

“Failure is inevitable. Unavoidable. But failure should never get the last word. You have to hold on to what you want. You have to not take no for an answer and take what’s coming to you. Never give in, never give up. Stand up. Stand up and take it.”- Meredith Grey

7. Know your value.

“Don't let what he wants eclipse what you need. He's very dreamy, but he's not the sun. You are!" -Cristina Yang

8. Love passionately and with all of your heart.

"I think it is important to take the time to tell the people you love how much you love them." Meredith Grey

9. Every tomorrow is a new beginning.

“You fought, You loved. You lost. Walk tall.”-Mark Sloan

10. Commit to friendship.

“We’re friends, real friends. And that means, no matter how long it takes, when you finally do decide to look back, I’ll still be here.”-Meredith Grey

11. Fight until you can't fight any more.

"We lose those battles as often as we succeed. The key, though, win or lose, is to never fail. And the only way to fail is not to fight. So fight until you can't fight anymore. Never let go. Never give up. Never run. Never surrender. Fight the good fight, you fight even when it seems inevitable you're about to go down swinging."-Amelia Shepherd

12. Nobody is perfect.

“I am human being. I make mistakes. I am flawed. We all are.”- Derek Shepherd

13. Fear is not something to be afraid of.

"Sometimes it's good to be scared. It means you still have something to lose." -Richard Webber

14. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

“Knowing is better than wondering, waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst most intractable mistake beats the hell out of not trying." -Meredith Grey

15. Never Settle.

“When we follow our hearts, when we choose not to settle, it’s funny isn’t it? A weight lifts. The sun shines a little brighter and for a brief moment at least, we find a little peace.”-Meredith Grey

16. Most importantly, the solution to any problem is a 30 second dance party.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
