New year, better us.

2016 has taught me a lot. It’s taught me that there will be ups and downs, but what’s new? There will always be ups and downs. There will be ups and downs in 2017. It’s a new year, and while it may not necessarily be a new start, it’s a year that’s full of 365 new chances. New chances to grow as people. New chances to spread the love and lend a helping hand. New chances to better the world we live in.

Instead of looking at the glass half empty, stepping on people’s flowers, or walking by someone that’s been knocked down, that glass is half full too, you know? That’s a beautiful flower that’s trying to grow big and tall. Reach out and help that person up.

I spent the majority of 2016 meeting and really getting to know some of the people who have become my really close friends. Each and everyone of these friends have taught me a lot. Life’s too short to be someone you aren’t. Life’s too short to not do what you’re made to do. Life’s too short to worry about the things you can’t control. Life’s short, but life is full of chances and opportunities. And while you are holding your pencil, writing your next 365 pages, God’s holding you. Remember that.

While you can’t control certain aspects of your life and while you’re taking on 2017, remember these three things:

  1. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” - Romans 8:31.
  2. “Faith can move mountains.” – Matthew 17:20.
  3. “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” – Genesis 28:15.

And if I learned anything from my high school government teacher, Mr. Bonifer, its this: “The key to happiness is having something to look forward to.” So 2017, I’m ready for you! Happy New Year everyone and may God be with you all!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.
