Oh, 2016.

You were the best of times, you were the worst of times. We laughed, we cried, we laughed a little more, we cried a lot more.

Yeah, there were a lot of tears this year.

But no matter how we felt, there was always a perfect gif at hand to tweet, text, or share. Here are 16 gifs that explain the roller coaster that has been the year 2016.

1. New year, new you

Yes, we all hoped to be better this year. And maybe that happened for some. If not, well, at least there's next year.

2. Not throwing away my shot

Thanks to Hamilton in 2015, we all went into this year claiming we would not throw away our shot.

3. When in doubt, just dab

No, I still don't understand dabbing, but it was a thing in 2016. Moving on.

4. Make a grand entrance

I have never seen someone be so excited to exit the Big Brother house. But, this made for a great gif nevertheless.

5. You got a friend in me

Joe Biden became everyone's best friend goals this year. I hope to have a friend look at me the same way he looks at Obama.

6. Love is love is love

No matter what happened this year, we learned that love is love is love. And you never know when you're going to get to say "I love you" to someone again.

7. Vote, vote vote

People far and wide couldn't stress enough how important the election was this year. There are over 22,000 gifs alone just about voting.

8. Election results got you like

A gif is worth a thousand words.

9. Election results may have also got you like

Moving on.

10. It's ok to be sad

It's always ok to be sad. (Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher.)

11. But we also have to wipe away the tears and rise up

Because immigrants, we get the job done.

12. It's ok to be weird

Sup, seal?

13. Smile often

Smile over the little things, even when it's hard

14. Listen to your heart

Even if it's creepy Kermit in a cape.

15. Speak up and drop the mic

Haters gonna hate, but stick to the values you believe in.

16. Say goodbye, 2016

Here's to a new year.

Rise up, don't throw away your shot, and be who you are. Try to make 2017 the best year ever, and with new gifs to explain it all.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
