15 Worship Song Lyrics For When You're Struggling

Music has always been the best way for me to connect with the Lord; I have never been the best at speaking my thoughts and prayers but throughout my life it has been easy for me to feel the Holy Spirit moving within me when I sing. Recently, I have been exposed to a lot of praise and worship music--both familiar and new songs--and this experience has really helped me to look closely at and be at peace with the problems I've been having in my life. No matter what troubles you may be dealing with, putting them into God's hands is the only way that the weight will be lifted off of your shoulders, but that can definitely be difficult--especially when you're a bit of a control freak like I am. Soaking in the word of God through song, however, can be a huge help. These are a few of my favorite song lyrics (and the songs that they are attached to) for when I'm having trouble and need to be relieved of my burdens.

1. "The dark of night will not overtake me. I am pressing into You, Lord, You fight my every battle and I will not fear." - Kari Jobe, "I Am Not Alone"

2. "My lighthouse, I will trust the promise, You will carry me safe to shore." - Rend Collective, "My Lighthouse"

3. "I surrender all. Lord, take control, I trust You. I'm letting go." - Christ McClarney, "Everything and Nothing Less"

4. "You gave everything to save the world You love, and this hope is an anchor for my soul." - Hillsong, "Anchor"

5. " When my heart is overwhelmed, I will look to You alone." - Brenton Brown, "God My Rock"

6. "As I rise, strength of God, go before me, lift me up." - Michael W. Smith, "Christ Be All Around Me"

7. "When I stumble and I sin, condemnation pressing in I will stand on every promise of Your word." - Keith and Kristyn Getty, "Every Promise of Your Word"

8. "The waves, they don't seem so high from on top of them looking down." - Casting Crowns, "Voice of Truth"

9. "When mountains are falling, when the waters are rising, I shall be safe in You." - Matt Redman, "My Hope"

10. "I will overcome, not by my strength, but by Your grace and love." - Charlie Hall, "I Will Overcome"

11. "Through the wildest waters and in the highest flame You are standing with me, You're never gonna let me go." - Aaron Shust, "Never Gonna Let Me Go"

12. "Are you growing weary in the struggle of it all? Jesus will help you when on His name you call." - Elvis Presley, "Reach Out to Jesus"

13. "When everything falls apart Your arms hold me together." - Fee, "Everything Falls"

14. "You are strength in my weakness, You are the refuge I seek, You are everything in my time of need." - Kutless, "Everything I Need"

15. "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters wherever You would call me." - United, "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)"

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
