16 Ways You Know You Went To Jackson Liberty High School

Jackson Liberty High School (JLHS), home of the Lions, is the newer of the two high schools in Jackson. If you attended Liberty, here are a few things you might relate to.

1. You can never go to the bathroom because they are always locked.

The security guards only opened up the bathrooms for a period during the day.

2. If you ask a teacher just to go to the back of the class they'll say "Take a pass."

Just going to the bathroom, which students could never do, was like going through airport security.

3. Probably almost every person rolled their eyes a little when Ms. Butler came on the loudspeaker.

She never said anything annoying. My guess is that no one was up for what she had to say at any time of the day.

4. You always made fun of Memorial's lack of air conditioning until it was 50 degrees in the building in the middle of winter.

Even in the dead of winter, they kept the building at a disgustingly low temperature.

5. You were always confused about what our school colors were.

For all we know, they could have thrown in yellow just for fun.

6. I bet you never knew they had a dance team.

Jackson Liberty has had a dance team from the day it opened.

7. Pasta Friday is the best day of the week.

Besides the weekend, students looked forward to Friday for the wheat pasta.

8. Everyone sprinted to the cafeteria to beat the line during lunch.

I mean our food was good but not that good.

9. You most likely got detention just for walking around school after 1:45 p.m.

This school is not as bad as it seems. They just wanted everyone in a classroom and accounted.

10. You put your headphones in after class just to annoy the principals.

Most students were in detention because of having headphones in.

11. Every year we convinced ourselves we would beat Memorial in football.

Face it, football is not our game.

12. Ms. Butler would come over the loudspeaker to tell anyone driving to be careful if it was clear and sunny outside.

She is making sure we come to school the next day to hear her on the loudspeaker.

13. There was always one person who never stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Disrespectful, I know.

14. Our pep rallies were hands-down the worst events of the year.

I don't know if it was the sound system or the students but Liberty's pep rallies were the worst on the east coast.

15. During the spring time, you would see girl's walking around with half matching outfits because shoulders.

Teachers would always send girls to the nurse's office to get a new shirt if their shoulders were showing in school.

16. As much as you complained about Jackson Liberty High School, you wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

This high school had so many amazing teachers and administrators that continue to inspire young students. Go Lions!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
