So love is a pretty important part of the Bible. Sometimes, though, I for one can feel like it's a theme that's hiding in plain sight. Sure, I "know" it's in there, but it can still feel distant. So here are 15 verses to highlight it.
1. John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
2. Romans 13:10
"Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."
3. 1 Corinthians 13:13
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
4. 1 John 4:7
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
5. John 15:9
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you."
6. 1 Peter 4:8
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
7. 1 John 4:18-19
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because He first loved us.”
8. John 14:15
“If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
9. Colossians 3:14
“Above all, be loving. This ties everything together perfectly.”
10. Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
11. Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
12. Isaiah 54:10
“'Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”
13. John 15:15
"No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you."
14. Romans 8:37-39
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
15. Luke 12:32
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
If any of these reminded you of God's love today, I encourage you to write it out somewhere you're sure to see it often.
