15 Of The Most Underrated Animated Disney Movies

When you think of Disney, you probably think of princesses and talking animals. Classics like "Cinderella," "Frozen," and "Aladdin" are what come to mind. However, there are several Disney films that are underrated or overlooked that deserve attention. These 15 movies have either been pushed aside in favor of the more "traditional" Disney movies or have been forgotten. (I'm choosing not to include live-action movies.)

1. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

This beautifully animated film has everything a Disney movies need to be a hit: a misunderstood princess, a quirky group of friends, a buff bad guy, and a nerdy leading guy.

2. Meet the Robinsons (2007)

A man in a bowler hat chases children through the future. Sounds creepy but it's actually a heartwarming film. And there's a dinosaur involved.

3. Brother Bear (2003)

What happens when a boy gets turned into a bear? A great movie.

4. Lion King 1&1/2 (2004)

This movie tells the story of what was happening to Timone and Pumba while the events in the original Lion King were occurring.

5. The Emperor's New Groove (2000

A sassy, self-absorbed emperor is transformed into a llama. Not only is this movie super funny, but it also has a great lesson: never insult a man's spinach puffs.

6. Chicken Little (2005)

The sky literally falls in this great movie about a little Chicken.

7. A Bug's Life (1998)

The story of one clumsy ant trying to save his colony by hiring circus bugs to scare the grasshoppers threatening them.

8. The Fox and the Hound (1981)

Tissues are a necessity for this super sweet movie about two best friends.

9. Aristocats (1970)

A movie about a catnapper who really lives up to the name.

10. Home on the Range (2004)

Singing cows go on an adventure to save their farm. It's great!

11. Oliver and Company (1988)

Oliver, a cute little kitten, is lost in the city and becomes friends with a ragtag group of dogs.

12. Bolt (2008)

Bolt is a dog movie star that thinks the movies he stars in are real. He's in for a big wake-up call!

13. A Goofy Movie (1995)

Goofy is the ultimate embarrassing dad.

14. Treasure Planet (2002)

An adventure tale featuring treasure, flying ships, and one of the greatest Disney bad boys.

15. The Brave Little Toaster (1987)

This sweet film features a host of household items on the search for their owner.

Honorable mention: James and the Giant Peach (1996)

The only thing stopping me from putting this great movie on my list is the fact that is is not animated. (It is a mixture of live-action and claymation.)

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
