15 Tunes To Tune In To

Although some of these works of art may be a few years old, that does not mean that they are/were not popular, and they definitely deserve some recognition.

“1957” Milo Greene

This is a sweet little number. Not only is the album cover beautiful, but the harmonies are just as colorful and beautiful.

“Art Exhibit” Young The Giant

Sameer Gadhia’s voice provides us with yet another smooth tune I love almost as much as the classic “Cough Syrup.”

“Joik #3” Blind Pilot

The lyrics in this song create the most beautiful poem by themselves. The beats and melodies are the icing on the cake.

“Lost Angels” James Vincent McMorrow

*Swoon*……. and I thought I loved “If I Had a Boat.” I think I may love this more. McMorrow has a Bon Iver vibe, which I love. The passion and thought put into the lyrics of this song is just beautiful.

“Send Them Off” BΔSTILLE

The beginning of this song could be anyone’s tune, but the distinctly warm and familiar harmonies are undoubtedly the smooth voice of Dan, Kyle and Woody. I love the horn riffs, upbeat, almost ‘pop’ feel to this new gem.

“Wait Up For Me” Amos Lee

The “Sweet Pea” singer’s new album has a very strong gospel and soul impression, which may be why the album itself is titled “Spirit.” All in all, a good listen.

“If You Ever Want To Be In Love” James Bay

This song may be overlooked because Bay has so many goodies, but this song contains the words any person would die to hear. Is it possible to have James at my wedding?????

“Whole Lot of Heart” Ingrid Michaelson

Though I would suggest listening to the entire record “It Doesn’t Have To Make Sense,” this is a soft ballad with a whole lot of heart, and depth.

“Whiskey & Wine” Tow’rs

This folk tune just puts you in a good mood. Nothing beats a good love story told by two talented vocalists.

“All We Ever Knew” The Head and the Heart

Again, another stellar album by the “Rivers and Roads” crew. This single off the record shows off an evolving sound for the group.

“Good as Gold” The Apache Relay

Though I love all that I’ve heard from these dudes, this particular ditty makes you feel like you’re going on an adventure. The whole album would be a nice accompaniment to a road trip.

“I’ll Be Around” Harbor & Home

Although my favorite song is my personal video of their finale acapella performance at their concert in Minneapolis, this song is amazing.

“Kingdom Come” Joel Ansett

A smooth alternative goodie with a good beat and an artist with a powerful but soft voice. What more convincing do you need to give it a listen?

“Somebody Else” The 1975

Now, I have heard this before so it’s not as ‘fresh’ as the others, and The 1975 isn’t exactly a band nobody knows, but I just really love this song so it would be wrong of me not to share it with you. There are multiple sections to this song that create different vibes, but as a whole, it’s just a song you want to dance to like you’re in another time and space.

“All Over” CRUISR

A song you would dance around your room to. CRUISR is a boy band that I’m sure will soon have the hearts of girls around the world. They have my attention with upbeat grooves like this one.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
