Parks and Recreation, a timeless show filled with so many diverse and loveable characters. The people who have seen it never have anything but positive reviews. I, personally, have watched each episode at least four times, not obsessively, I just know that when I need a pick-me-up, Leslie Knope will try everything she can to make me laugh. So, it's time to Treat Yo' Self to some hilarious highlights.
1. Ron's Permit
If you're the Director of Parks and Rec, you have all of the form hookups.
2. Li'l Sebastian
When Parks and Rec introduced us to America's Sweetheart, Li'l Sebatian, we were as obsessed with him as all of the Pawneeans! Not only was he the star of the Harvest Festival, but his death inspired a better ballad than "Candles In the Wind." In fact, it's 5000 times better. Fans now call tiny ponies Li'l Sebastians, not to mention his loss caused Ron to cry for the second time in his life.
3. Snake Juice
Though the FDA incinerated the rest of them, the launch at April's 21st birthday party is a day Parks and Rec will never remember.
4. Ben's Emotional Breakdown
Probably one of the most relatable moments in Parks and Rec is when Ben is trying to find himself again and doesn't realize how insanely depressed he is. I'm still waiting for the beginning of "Requiem for a Tuesday" to make it's debut.
5. Tom's Ideas
Tom has the most entrepreneurial spirit that pairs perfectly with the most random products. From Entertainment 7Twenty to Yogurt Platinum, "a gourmet alcoholic yogurt," Tom Haverford approaches each situation with undeniable swagger.
As Leslie and her new campaign team scramble to throw together an event to promote her candidacy for city council, nothing seems to go right. But it's all worth it to see the team fail together.
8. Burt Macklin and Janet Snakehole
Not only are they the weirdest, yet arguably the most in love couple on the show, but their alter egos are just as in love. Whether he's cracking a case or playing by his own rules, Burt Macklin, FBI, is never seen without his trusty shades.
9. Jean Ralphio Being the Worst
You either hate him or love him, but either way, Jean Ralphio is the worst. But he doesn't care what you think anyway, because he'll just go get another Lexus and roll in the money.
10. How Pawneeans Drink From the Water Fountain
A completely underrated episode, the way that Pawneeans drink from the water fountain completely describes the dis-functionality and unhealthy ways of the town. They are a no-vegetable, have soda's the size of a liquefied toddler, kind of town, and they like it that way.
11. The Accounting Firm
No matter how many times he breaks their heart, Barney and the accounting firm will never stop offering Ben a job. The jester of the firm, Ben and his lame accounting puns, will always make Ted's day.
12. Food Poisoning
My favorite episode is after a night of trying out multiple caterers, the men of Parks and Rec have fallen with food poisoning so terrible, Ron cracks the toilet bowl. Still, being the dedicated public servants that they are (besides Ron), the men show up to work anyway and are completely incapacitated.
13. "Crack Pot Conventions"
The Pawnee public forums are where the colorful people of Pawnee all come together to discuss issues that are not even close to relevant to why the forum was held in the first place. To debating whether or not Twilight deserves to go into the town's time capsule to the big concern of why a randomly found sandwich in the park did not have mustard on it, public forums are a real treat.
14. Greg Pikitus
The terror that destroyed the Parks Department and Leslie Knope's sanity. The arch nemesis of Leslie, this young teen's deviance created one of the greatest characters of all time: Burt Macklin, FBI.
15. Treat Yo'Self
The best day of the year! A day where you can truly give yo' self yo' all (while spending a lavish amount of money on literally anything you've ever wanted). Whether you want to indulge your nerdy side with a Batman suit, or purchase cashmere everything, Treat Yo' Self has become a mantra and a way of life.
Sometimes all you need is a laugh and to escape for a while. Parks and Recreation is a TV show that fits everyone and leaves everyone wanting more. No matter how many times you rewatch it, it never gets old.
