College has taught me a lot. And I mean a lot. I mean for instance, before college I ignored, "Mom's know everything." Well, it turns out I, for one, am not too cool for my Mom due to contrary belief. And she really does know everything. I don't know if it's a sixth sense, or what... but I do know calling my Mom in the midst of a college crisis, has saved me on countless occasions.
1. To just say hi.
2. To ask how to do laundry.
“Is it really bad if I mix my whites and my colored clothes?”
3. And how to get a stain out of my favorite shirt.
“How do you get a red drink stain out of your clothes?”
4. To apologize for being a failure.
“I’m sorry for this exam I am about to take.”
5. To talk to my mom while I was eating alone.
6. To tell my mom I was sick.
7. Or to break the news to her that WebMD says I only have two weeks left to live.
“According to WebMD, I am actually terminally ill and I only have a few more weeks left.”
8. To ask what medicine I should buy.
9. To ask her if going out before my 8:30 a.m. exam is alright.
“I’ll be alright, right?”
10. To ask her to make my doctors appointments.
“For the next time I come home, can you schedule this doctors appointment for me. Oh, and a hair appointment.”
11. To talk to her while I am walking home alone at night.
“In case I get kidnapped on my walk home.”
12. To ask for my social security number, again.
One day I’ll be an adult and remember.
13. To ask my mom to transfer me some money, one more time.
“Can you send me money one last time, I ate the rest of mine.”
14. To ask about the dog.
“Can you send me a picture of the dog?”
15. To ask if it’s acceptable to come home yet.
When it’s just been one of those weeks, and you need your Mom.
