Is that time of year again! Summer vacation is ending, and for many young adults, it is time to go back to essays and finals. Recently, I rewatched the show "Firefly" with my parents, so here are 15 thoughts most people have when they are moving into college, whether you are a continuing student, a transfer student or a freshman.

1. Summer went by so fast! Can you believe it?

2. Soon you will have to start doing papers and study for hours on end.

3. You try to push that thought back, but your parents are starting to get testy with you and vice versa. You have to make a list of what you need.

4. Now you have to shop for all of your things.

5. But shopping isn't all bad. At least you have an excuse to try on some new clothes.

6. You finally have all your items. Now you have to figure out how to fit them in your car.

7. Once you smash all of your bags and boxes into the car, you are finally setting off to school!

8. Congratulations! You finally made it to school! You drive onto your beautiful campus which is often decorated for move in day, especially for freshman.

9. Now your dad is determined to get all of your items in one trip, up to your room on the third floor.

10. Climbing all of those stairs, you finally get to your room! It may be small, but it is yours!

11. You get everything settled, and now it is time for your parents to leave. You say one final goodbye, and you watch them leave.

12. It finally hits you that you are on your own either for the first time or once again.

13. Then it really hits you that you are really alone and on your own, maybe for the first time in your life.

14. After a good cry, you cheer up and begin thinking you are going to be okay. You made it this far right?

15. You have a great year ahead of you! Nothing can stop you.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. 1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
