Every day that I go out for my run, numerous feelings come rushing into my mind. If you are a runner, I’m sure you can relate to some of these same thoughts.
1. OK, easy, I only need to run (insert amount) miles.
Ten miles suddenly becomes five when you actually begin to run because it is suddenly harder than you thought it was going to be.
2. Wow, it's hotter out here than I thought.
I always seem to run in the heat of the day, when it is over 90 degrees and has a humidity level of 90 percent.
3. Why is this sport so hard?
I run every day, you’d think I’d be used to it by now. Good and bad, every day is different.
4. Woo, one mile down.
My philosophy is count how many miles you’ve done; not how many you have left. Easier said than done, but it does really work.
5. I really feel like I’m killing this run.
This happens on just about every day, yet, my watch always says I’m running slower than I thought.
6. Should I even trust this GPS watch anyway?
How can a satellite in space even track how fast I am moving? So, I always question the average pace on my watch, unless it says I’m running fast.
7. Cars are passing, I need to obtain the best running form and look fast.
You know you are guilty of it too. I never know anyone in those cars, but it is always necessary to look as fast as possible.
8. Hello fellow runner. High five?
Kidding, but everyone needs a little moral support though, right? Too bad that might be a little weird, especially if you don't know the other person.
9. I could really use a snack and some water.
Burning all of these calories really causes some serious cravings. When I am finished with my run, I eat everything in sight.
10. Just keep running. Just keep running. Just keep running, running, running.
Too bad Dory wasn’t a runner because this could be her theme song instead.
11. Why do I do this to myself?
I love it, that’s why. It may be tough sometimes, but it really is the best sport out there.
12. I can’t run another step.
Yet, I continue anyway. I was never actually going to stop, but sometimes the run is a challenge.
13. Yay, I didn’t collapse today.
The heat could really get to you or a lack of hydration could take its toll on your body. You never know, it could happen.
14. That was a good run.
It always is great to get our there, no matter the circumstances.
15. I think I’m going to go further tomorrow.
Despite everything that you may think during your run, it is always a great feeling to look back and see how hard you have worked to get where you are in your running career.
