15 Thoughts Every College Student Has During Finals Week
Georgetown College

For college students, myself included, the two weeks before winter break is the most stressful time of the year. From last-minute tests, homework assignments and moving into the library it's almost impossible to maintain our social lives. Just know if you've thought any of these things during these two weeks, you're not alone.

1. How is it finals week already? It was just summer.

2. It's fine, I'm doing OK in my classes.

Now that it's finals week, it might be time to check your grade portal. Time to calculate what grade you need to get on the final in order to get an A. And then you realize its virtually impossible to score 117 percent.

3. I have to get a good spot at the library, everyone and their mother is going to be there this week.

Time to figure out where the library actually is.

4. Mmm, I studied for about 30 minutes, I think it's time to watch the next episode of that show I'm binge-watching on Netflix.

5. Can I just drop out and become a stripper?

How much money do strippers make nowadays?

6. Annnnd I'm out of coffee again.

7. When did we learn this?

When you finally realize going to class comes in handy. Maybe I should have taken better notes or shown up to a lecture.

8. Maybe if I stare at this page long enough, my brain will begin to absorb the information.

9. Why did I choose to major in [insert major here]?

The time you realize that maybe it isn't worth it.

10. I quit college, I quit life, I'm dropping out.

11. How does my professor expect me to memorize all of this?

100 terms, 50 multiple choice, 50 true/false and five essay questions. I'm basically screwed.

12. I don't know how to do my taxes or any other assets of being an adult, but I know that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, so close enough, right?

13. I probably should start my final project, which is due next week. Or just wait until the day before it's due, because who doesn't procrastinate.

14. I got this.

Until you look at the study guide and realize you know less than half the answers.

15. Finals week is finally over and all you can do is:

16. And then you realize that it all starts over next semester:

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
