15 Things You Should Do This Summer

Now that most of us are on summer break or will be soon, the question of what to do this summer begins to come up. To help assist in answering that, here's 15 things you should do this summer.

1. Read a book.

Summer is the perfect time to go lay a blanket outside and read a book. Try reading a book you've always have been interested in reading but have never done.

2. Visit a new beach.

Sometimes going to the same beach can get old, try something new and visit a new beach. Maybe it's one that's close by that you've never gotten around to, or maybe it's one farther away that makes going to the beach more of a day adventure.

3. Try learning a language.

This summer try learning that one language that you've always been fascinated with. A great way to do this is with the app Duolingo. It even gives the option of sending daily reminders to practice.

4. Go to the Farmer's Market.

Even if you don't plan on buying anything it's fun to just walk around and people watch while you're there.

5. Try a new coffee shop.

There are probably coffee shops that you've heard amazing things about but you've never gotten around to it, now is the time to try it out.

6. Spend a day baking with friends.

This is something I love doing with my friends. At the beginning of the summer we'll write down desserts we want to make and we try to get through the list before the summer is over.

7. Catch up with an old friend.

If you had one friend that you're bummed about losing touch with over the year, summer is a perfect time to get back in touch with them.

8. Go to garage sales.

Go to garage sales with your mom, or a friend. Maybe you'll find an amazing find. And if you don't you still got to spend the day with someone you care about.

9. Go to a parade.

If someone tries to tell you that parades are for kids, they're a party pooper and you don't need that kind of person in your life. Parades are fun for everyone.

10. Do a DIY.

Do it yourselfs can either be a lot of work, or super easy. Either way they're fun to try. Do it with a friend, if you're worried about your skill level.

11. Try something new.

For example this summer I'm going to try and do yoga at least 3 times a week. It's something I've always have wanted to get into and now is the perfect time to start.

12. Have a movie marathon with your best friends.

Whether it's a "Harry Potter" marathon, or a scary movie marathon. They're fun to do with friends.

13. Play a game of beach volleyball.

Beach volleyball is one of my favorite things to do, even if you're not good at volleyball it's still so much fun to play with friends.

14. Have a water balloon fight.

Pick a day that will be really warm, and get all of your friends or your family together and have a water balloon fight. Just make sure you pick up the pieces at the end to make sure no animals choke on them.

15. Listen to a new artist.

I love constantly discovering new artists. But it can be a long process sometimes. Summer is the perfect time to take the time to discover some new favorite artists.

Hopefully if you get bored at any point during the summer you get a chance to do at least one of the things on this list.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective. The following aren’t foolproof tips and may not apply to you, but I was able to find success with them (hope you do too!)
