What I Wish I Knew When I Was Young

When we are young, we really don't know much. We are easily impressionable, and this leads us to do things we would later look back and frown at. The good part about this process is that you eventually do come to your senses about life, relationships, and who you are as an individual. That being said here are some things I wish I knew when I was younger.

1. It's better to be independent than it is to be dependent

2. They mistreat you now but they'll need you later — don't go back

3. You have to love yourself more than you love them

4. Everyone isn't out to get you

5. Never be ashamed of yourself

6. The losers have more fun than the cool kids

7. Don't pretend to be someone you're not

8. Don't pretend to be dumb just because you've been told that's how girls should be

9. Sometimes the best response is no response

10. Toxic relationships will only hold you back

11. Don't compromise any aspect of yourself just to have friends

12. Fake friends will only leave you empty

13. Your grades are more important than a boy

14. You're not a sex object — don't let them treat you like one

15. Pain is temporary, you won't be sad forever

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
