"Froomie" is a way to describe someone who is both a best friend and a roommate. I feel incredibly lucky to be rooming with one of my best friends, Skye. We met last year as suitemates in our freshman dorm. While Skye has lived with me, she has never truly lived with me, if ya know what I mean. Suitemates are totally different than roommates, but I know that we'll have a great sophomore year together! Here are a few things I want my "froomie" to know:

1. Communication is key.

If I'm doing something that's bothering you, tell me!

2. I sometimes like to have my space.

While I like to be social, I also like to have quiet, alone time. Especially at the end of a stressful day.

3. We'll have plenty of Netflix movie nights.

As well as jam sessions!

4. Don't touch my food (without asking, of course).

If anyone knows me, they know I love food... like a lot. But, I also don't mind sharing food if you ask because I understand that everyone loves food.

5. We will have nights where we stay up late talking.

Whether it's about boys, classes, girl stuff, we'll probably stay up late talking/crying/laughing about it.

6. I like to keep things neat and clean.

Eh, sometimes.

7. I suck at doing my dishes.

I will literally leave them by the sink for a week before cleaning them.

8. I am not a morning person.

I stay up way too late and then have the worst time getting up in the morning. I also like to pretend I'm a morning person by trying to get up extra early in the morning, which usually mean I'll get up an hour late.

9. My alarm will go off 10 times before I wake up.

On top of not being a morning person, I will also let my alarm go off a million time before waking up and realizing it's going off, which I'm very sorry for in advance.

10. We will probably argue.

Probably about stupid, little things.

11. But we'll work through it.

No doubt about that!

12. I'll always be there for you.

Come to me for anything! I'll always listen to what you have to say. Even if you just need someone to study with or go on a late night McDonald's run, I got you!

13. Feel free to borrow my stuff.

What is mine is yours. Again, just ask!

14. I will mess with you, a lot.

My froomie already knows how much I love to mess with my friends, so this is no surprise to her. I'll take funny and unflattering Snapchats of you or pull stupid pranks on you, it's how I show my affection.

15. I can't wait to make amazing memories with you!

I can't tell you how excited I am to live with my best friend next year! I hope we can make each other's sophomore year a special and memorable experience!

There's nobody I'd rather room with other than my "froomie"!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
