15 Things To Do When You Have A Snow Day

1. Binge watch Netflix.

Let’s face it, you’d probably be binge watching Netflix anyway but at least now you have an excuse to do it! You can’t go anywhere so you might as well watch "Friends" for 10 hours straight. Who’s going to stop you?

2. Read.

If you’re trapped inside and your Internet is down because of the blizzard, why not pick up a good book?

3. Play outside.

Embrace your inner child and go play outside! Throw on your snow gear, grab a sled and enjoy the day! Nobody says that sleigh riding has to stop when you grow up. Be a kid!

4. Watch a movie.

Nothing says “mid-afternoon” movies like a snow day! Cuddle up with your favorite blanket and turn on a movie.

5. Do some homework.

Not necessarily a fun thing to do, but odds are you have homework that you’re avoiding and you’re trapped inside, so get some of it done!

6. Organize your room.

Clean out your closet and your drawers. Get rid of the junk that you’re hoarding and get organized! You’ll feel so much better when you do, and you’ll feel extra productive when everything is tidied up!

7. Exercise.

Stop using that treadmill in your house as a coat rack and start using it for it’s actual purpose. Maybe being stuck inside because of the snow is just the push you need to start exercising!

8. Bake.

Bake cookies. Bake brownies. Bake a cake. Bake pies. Bake any dessert food that you can think of. Go on Pinterest and search for cute winter themed cookies and make them from scratch! Then not only will you have a tasty treat to enjoy, but you’ll also have some very Instagram-worthy food.

9. Drink some wine.

Being an adult is hard and wine is great. A snow day is the perfect excuse to break out a bottle of wine and wind down from the latest stresses in your life.

10. Arts and crafts.

Again, Pinterest is your best friend on snow days. Crafts are a really fun way to embrace your creative side. You don’t have to be a Picasso by any means, but even if arts and crafts isn’t your forte, coloring a picture or making a cute snowman out of construction paper can be fun and a super great way to boost your mood!

11. Break out the board games.

Board games are super time consuming and I know that I very rarely finish one. If you’re stuck inside with your family or your roommates, break out Monopoly and finish the entire game from start to finish.

12. Plan your next vacation.

Dream about warmer days and plan your next vacation to a tropical island. It’ll give you something to look forward to, especially if you’re not a fan of the snow.

13. Make hot chocolate.

A snow day isn’t a snow day without hot chocolate. There’s nothing more to it.

14. Nap.

Take a nap. Eat some food. Repeat. Snow days are for napping. Nobody expects you to do anything on a snow day which is exactly why you don’t need to feel unproductive or guilty for taking an extra long nap. Catch up on your sleep!

15. Relax.

Odds are that unless there is a crazy blizzard outside, you’ll be back to the real world tomorrow. Take advantage of the snow day while you can and do whatever you need to do to relax. Read a book, color a picture, watch a movie or go play outside! Snow days can be fun if take advantage of them!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
