15 Things To Be Thankful For This Thanksgiving
Jessica McDermott

Thanksgiving is often over shadowed by Christmas. People skip quickly over this holiday on to the wonder and excitement of Christmas. Which of course, I do understand to an extent but I think we should slow it down. The day after Halloween has become the first official day of the Christmas season. But Thanksgiving in some ways to me is better than Christmas. See, Thanksgiving is all about family and good food and being thankful for what you have. Of course, Christmas is just as family orientated but getting the family together has become more about presents and "Ooohs and Ahhhhs." Its become extremely expensive and stressful. It's still my favorite holiday, don't get me wrong because of the excitement of the holiday season. But I don't think Thanksgiving gets enough appreciation as it deserves.

So here are some things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving:

1. Your Family. (For giving your life it's meaning. Yes, even your crazy aunts and uncles.)

2. Your Bestfriend. (For being "your person," and the one girl/guy that's been by your side through thick and thin.)

3. Your Circle Of Friends (For all of those who've given you plenty of memories to be thankful for.)

4. Your Signicant Other (For all of the unconditional love someone can offer.)

5. Your Job (For giving you the ability to work and make money that you earn, it's a blessing that we take for granted most of the time.)

6. Your Health (For letting you enjoy every day to your full potential.)

7. Your Education (For letting you have the privilege to persue a further education, which is an idea only some can dream of.)

8. Long Drives (For letting you cruise around in your car while your mind wanders, leaving the stress of your day behind.)

9. Stress (For proving that you have things in your life worth caring and worrying about.)

10. Mac & Cheese (For being the most important meal of the day.)

11. The Hard Times. (For showing you how to appreciate the good ones.)

12. Your Co-Workers. (For giving you some entertainment 8 hours a day, keeping you sane, and sharing your experiences at your job.)

13. A Good Pair Of Jeans. (For hugging you in just the right places.)

14. Red Lipstick. (For being every girls true best friend.)

15. Cool Ranch Doritos. (For obviously being the more superior flavor.)

Hope you enjoyed my little list for the holiday, don't forget to sit down with your family this Thanksgiving and appreciate the goodness that you have all around you, and hopefully one of your crazy aunts makes a good Thanksgiving Turkey. 😉

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
