Our generation is fully consumed by the addiction that is social media. I'm sure all of you have encountered the world of Instagram to some extent, and have seen for yourself how much the power of likes and followers mean to the majority of the users. Although Instagram is fun, you get to see what your friends and favorite celebrities are up to, and you can share tidbits of your life whenever you please. However, the world doesn't revolve around Instagram, so here are 15 things that are more important than how many likes you just got on your most recent post:

1. The people who you are currently with in that moment.

Believe it or not, the people who you are physically with are actually a whole lot more meaningful than the hundreds of followers you have.

2. What you’re having for dinner, or lunch, or breakfast. Just food in general.

Why worry about likes when you can worry about food?

3. You’re latest Netflix binge.

Because what's more important than relaxing with your new favorite show?

4. Working out.

Instead of wishing that you were those Instagram models, go out and be one.

5. Having faith that your friends love you with or without them throwing down a like on your latest picture.

Sometimes people actually are busy and don't scroll through their feeds 1,000 times a day.

6. What you forgot to do throughout the day while you were busy checking your notifications.

Turns out, you really miss a lot of staring at your phone.

7. Making sure your phone is charged so that you can call your mom instead of check Instagram.

Why waste the battery you have on likes, when you can call your mom?

8. Dogs.

Go pet a dog. Hug a dog. Act like a dog. Just enjoy dogs more than Instagram.

9. Treating people the best you can possibly treat them.

How you treat others is a better representation of yourself than your Instagram will ever be.

10. The conversation you’re missing because you’re too busy paying attention to your phone.

Like I said, you miss a lot when you're always staring down at your phone.

11. Your family.

Family always comes first.

12. The beautiful scenery that you’re looking at that shouldn’t only be seen through the screen of your iPhone.

It's so much prettier with it out of the way.

13. Standing up for what you believe in.

Because no one else will do it for you.

14. Making sure you’re registered to vote.

Please, don't let Donald Trump win because you needed to post that picture.

15. You.

At the end of the day, your happiness and well-being is more important than anything in this entire world.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
