15 Things Short People Always Hear

Growing up short means you're always the one who rides in the middle seat of the car, you're the one who's running to catch up with everyone else and you're always asked how old you are multiple times because no one really believes you when you tell them. Being the shortest one of all my friends, I hear many of these things daily.

1. "How do you drive? Can you even see over the steering wheel?"

2. "Can you reach the pedals?"

3. "You're the perfect height for an arm rest."

4. "How's the weather down there?"

5. "Do you want the kids menu?"

6. "You make me feel so tall."

7. "Can your feet even reach the floor when you sit down?"

8. "You might not reach the height requirement for the rollercoaster."

9. "How old are you?"

10. "Sorry, I didn't see you down there."

11. "Wow I can see right over you."

12. "I think my 6 year old sister is taller than you."

13. "Do you still shop at children's stores for clothes?"

14. "Aw, you're so cute."

15. "How do you reach things on the top shelf?"

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
