Being a college freshman is down-right crazy; there's no debating it. Being away from home surrounded by strangers, terrible food and public transportation has been arguably the weirdest time in my entire life. With that said, here are a few things I learned my first semester of college.
1. Game days are the best days
I mean, come on. Doesn't the idea of waking up at 7 a.m. to pregame sound phenomenal?
2. Your room is not just your room
Keep your space clean. It's not just your space.
3. Make friends in your classes
Sometimes they'll end up being your best friends.
4. No matter how good breakfast is, dining hall dinner will always be a letdown
Because after a while, copious amounts of grilled chicken and pasta with meat sauce gets old.
5. Air fresheners, air fresheners, air fresheners
It's always nice when the RAs doing rounds compliment the smell of your room from the hallway.
6. LYSOL
Seriously, Lysol becomes your best friend and keeps you from getting sick.
7. No matter how hard you try, your frat shoes will get disgusting
White Converses can only stay white for so long.
8. Do your laundry
Trust me, it gets therapeutic after a while.
9. Make your bed
There's nothing better than getting back from class and getting into a pre-made bed for your afternoon nap.
10. Headphones are a blessing
They're the most helpful way of avoiding any unwanted human interaction on any given day.
11. The bathrooms are disgusting
Don't ever -- and I mean EVER -- go to the bathroom without shoes or socks.
12. Missing your family is OK
It happens to everyone.
13. Become friends with people on your floor
You'll see them more than anyone else.
14. Take out the garbage
You know those Febreeze commercials? Odors in disguise? Yeah, that'll be your room.
15. Make the best of everything
These are the best years of your life. Laugh, love, play hard, and work harder.
