A list of the most important things I am thankful for today and every day.

15 Things to Give Thanks for This November

With Thanksgiving coming right around the corner, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by writing. So many amazing things have happened in my life this year, prayers have been answered, I have somewhat figured out what I want to do with my life, people have come and gone and of course there were those rough times as well. But all-in-all, this year has been one of the best ones yet and I could not thank God enough for all of the incredible things he has provided for me.

1. There are only two weeks left before fall break!

Can I get an "Amen?!"

2. Family

Helping in times of crisis or simply picking you up when you're down, there is nothing family cannot do to put a smile on your face.

3. Supportive friends

"Best friends forever never apart, maybe in distance, but never at heart."

4. The United States is still a free nation.

Something to remember, no matter who is elected Tuesday.

5. Morning coffee

Need I say more?

6. Supportive other half

Whether they’re your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife or just your partner in crime, having someone close to you to do life with is probably one of the best things you could ever have.

7. The little things

It could be a bar of chocolate, seeing a puppy walking across campus, or a flower dropped at your doorstep, taking a step back to appreciate the little things will always brighten up your life.

8. New episodes of "Grey's Anatomy"

Though many things have changed since season one, the fact that this series is on its thirteenth season is something I will always be thankful for, no matter what is going on in my life.

9. A great joke.

10. Good health

Running to the doctor every couple of weeks isn’t always the easiest thing to do, and boy have I learned that this year, but when you and those closest to you are in good overall health there is not much else to be grateful for everyday.

11. PUPPIES

Because who isn't thankful for those cute puppy videos or pictures they see everyday while scrolling through Facebook?

12. Family traditions

Whether it's the stuffing you serve on Thanksgiving, reading your favorite book around Christmas or singing “happy birthday” super loudly to your siblings on their birthday, family traditions are something you will cherish in your heart forever no matter where life takes you.

13. Netflix

Because we all need some quality "me" time and I could not think of a better way to spend it.

14. An education

Beyond thankful to be able to live in a country where it is not frowned upon to be a female science major and follow my dreams.

15. Life

Because I am beyond grateful for a wonderful life full of things and people I love, all of whom have blessed my life in their own special way to help shape me into the person I am today.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
