There is nothing like Lubbock, Texas and Texas Tech University. As far as we are concerned, no one will ever compare to the Red Raiders. Nothing will ever hold a flame to the crazy weather, crazier drivers, and some of the craziest students in the nation. Red Raiders know how to get things done and have the best time doing so. Here are 15 things every Texas Tech Red Raider knows to be the truth.

1. There is nothing sweeter than the sound of the victory bells. Whether it be a graduation or a win, that has to be the most glorious sound I have ever heard.

2. Other places will come and go, but Chimy's is forever. Chimy's should always be at the top of your list for a taco, margarita, and a cute Instagram pic.

3. Carol of Lights has the most beautiful Christmas lights you have ever seen. Yeah, you have seen some impressive ones in your day, but these light up the greatest university in the world. Now that's what we like to see.

4. There will be more Ubers and D.D.s drive in and out of the Chitwood/Weymouth parking lot than any other dorm. It's just the meet up spot for freshmen, right?

5. You better keep your rear end off the Memorial Circle grass. Don't worry! If you don't, every student on campus will stop what they're doing and let you know.

6. Our Rec Center has the largest rock wall in the Big 12 and the longest lazy river in the NCAA. And don't you forget it!

7. The Blue Light will forever be the best in live music. I'm sorry, Austin. That honor lies in Lubbock.

8. Sam's place has saved your rear end when you needed a scantron on campus. They're literally everywhere.

9. The dairy barn will stand forever. There is no way we will ever let that thing come down.

10. Red Raiders live for football. Wait, Texas Tech football game-day isn't a weekly national holiday?

11. We have the best tailgates in Texas. Nothing like the sweet, muffled stench of barbecue and alcohol on a warm September afternoon.

12. We have the best looking coach in the NCAA. Ain't I right, Kliffy?

13. The fans (especially the student section) may be the rowdiest in American collegiate football. We may change the words to the fight song, we may throw tortillas on the field, but we love Red Raider football more than we love life itself.

14. That being said, throwing tortillas may be the best tradition on game-day at any university. We'll sure show you there is more to Lubbock, Texas than cotton fields and tortilla factories... Mr. A&M!

15. Every day is a great day to be a Red Raider! Long live the Matadors!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
