I had my daughter when I was 18, so I pretty much had no idea what kind of challenge I was taking on. For most of you reading this, you're in your 20's, so you probably still have a bit of time left before you start thinking about starting a family. Before you do, take time to savor these 15 things, because when you have a baby of your own, they'll be gone forever.
1) Being able to just get up and walk out the door whenever you want, no snacks, diapers, or strollers required
2) The sweet, sweet sound of silence in your home.
3) Being able to buy nice things and not have them smashed/broken/carelessly knocked over.
4) Having disposable income to spend on yourself and only you- not princess dresses which will be thrown away in two months when they no longer fit.
5) Being able to go to the bathroom without a tiny person knocking on the door and interrupting.
6) Being able to swear openly and freely in the comfort of your own home without wondering who else is picking up on your language
7) Carrying only things that you actually want and only things that belong to you in your purse- no room for another person's trash/toys/snacks.
8) Not having a tiny person wiping their nose and/or other bodily fluids on your shirt in public.
9) Not having crumbs inhabiting everything and everywhere in your house.
10) Having tables, doorknobs, or any other surface in your house be free from some sort of unidentifiable sticky film.
11) Going to a restaurant that does not serve chicken nuggets and does not include crayons with the purchase price of the meal.
12) Being able to have sex in your own home whenever the mood feels right or even wherever you want (if you don't live with roommates, that is).
13) Cooking dinner and then eating it without A) having to gather other people who clearly have no interest in eating and B) will complain throughout the entire meal, if they eat any of it at all.
14) Sleeping though the night and even sleeping in some days.
15) Going on vacation to a place that does not involve characters in costumes.
