It was just over 15 years ago when the world fell in love Elle Woods, who was dumped by Warner Huntington Ⅲfor not being “serious” enough. Determined to get the “love of her life” back, the positive college student set to prove she was not the stereotypical airhead blonde. She earned a 179 on her LSAT and got into Harvard Law School. This popular early 2000’s movie changed the game. Elle set a new standard for self love, work ethic and taught millennials things we can still use today. So in honor of the 15th anniversary of “Legally Blonde” let’s take a look back at the things Elle Woods taught us best.

1. Listening to Hoku’s “Perfect Day” really is the perfect way to start your day.

This popular 2000's hit and the movies most notable song is still my jam when getting ready to take on a crazy day.

2. You can never be overdressed.

Just be aware, everybunny may be jealous of your outfit.

3. Exercise is key.

Endorphins really do make you happy.

4. Glasses do make you feel smarter.

What, like getting into law school is hard?

5. The bend and snap has a 98% success rate.

And when used appropriately it has an 83% rate of return on a dinner invitation.

6. Orange can never be the new pink.

But really. Pink is the new pink. Not orange, not black, but pink.

7. Knowledge is power.

Not just with school; from beauty to fashion to pop culture even international news: stay in the know.

8. Work your butt off.

When someone tells you that you can't, show them you can.

9. Surround yourself with great friends.

Have people (or even animals) who are going to build you up, not knock you down.

10. Presentation is everything.

Presentation is like the icing on the cake, "It gives it a little something extra, don't you think?"

11. Never let a guy determine your self worth.

Never let a man tell you that you aren't good enough. If he wants you to change anything about yourself, it is beyond time to take the trash to the curb.

12. Always chase your dreams.

Have a dream? Figure out how to make it happen. Do it. No excuses. Do you, boo.

13. Never underestimate yourself.

It's like Elle's hottie Emmett said, "You know being a blonde is a pretty powerful thing." Don't let your background, past or even hair color stand in your way of succeeding.

14. Girls stick together.

Don’t believe me? Paulette and Elle’s relationship. Elle’s sorority sisters. Elle even became besties with her ex’s new girl. Now that's some serious girl power.

15. Stay true to yourself and you will succeed.

"You must always have faith in people, and you must always have faith in yourself."

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
