16 Things All Cashiers Know Too Well, As Told by "The Parent Trap"

Being a cashier is quite an interesting job because you are working with the public. Becoming a cashier definitely helped me learn more people skills and it definitely showed me how to hold my tongue. If you are or were a cashier at some time, here are some experiences that you are probably quite familiar with.

1. When you're standing at your register and a customer asks if you're checking out

"Nah, I just like to get asked that question."

2. When a customer starts getting rowdy and the manager walks up like

And they're probably going to calm down (or anger) the customer by telling them the same thing you have repeated about five times.

3. When you find out your BFF is working the same shift as you

It's even better when they are on the register right next to you!

Time to CUT UP!

4. When a customer asks if you're having a good day

Like seriously. The Best. Day. EVER.

5. When you look in the mirror at the end of a shift

Hoping you didn't look like this all day and realizing how many people saw you this way

6. When a customer compliments how fast you scanned their items

"I get a lot of practice."

7. "You're total is $65.84."

*Customer hands you 9 rolls of change.*

8. When your replacement walks in to take your place

Such a freeing feeling

9. When a customer says YOU overcharged them

Technically, it was the register

But I'll gladly check the shelf and refund you

Or prove you wrong.

HAH!

10. When someone puts their stuff on your register belt and walks away to grab more things

And another customer walks up with the same expression as you probably thinking the SAME thing you're thinking... "Why don't they just use a basket?"

11. When a customer finds out an item is $0.08 more than they thought it was

And you awkwardly ask, "Do you still want it?"

12. When someone hands you cash and you just finished watching them cough and sneeze all the way up to your register

Where's the Germ-X?

13. When a customer threatens to not come back to your store anymore

"It probably won't be easy for you, so really, ...Good luck."

14. When someone is walking up to your register and you say, "Hi, how are you?", but they pass up your register and keep shopping

So you awkwardly turn around and pretend you didn't talk

OOPS

15. When you tell a customer they can't use a certain coupon and they say, "They let me use it here all the time."

Truth is, they probably didn't and that statement doesn't change our rules. Sorryyyyyyy

16. When a customer says, "Keep the change!"

Cause you're happy, even if its just $0.03 (or at least I am) because it does add up after a while!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
