Sorority Recruitment is right around the corner and It was not long ago that I was PNM (Potential New Member) going through recruitment. So, I figured I'd share some words of wisdom while my rush experience is still somewhat fresh on my brain.

1. Get your letters of recommendation done early.

In a perfect world, you will want to get your letters of rec finished up before summer begins. Check out your local Panhellenic Alumni Association for help finding women to write your rec letters. Side note... don't forget to send out thank you letters to everyone who wrote you a letter of rec.

2. Do your homework.

Go ahead and do your research about all of the houses on your campus. It is good to go into recruitment already in the know about each chapter's philanthropy and values.

3. Don't believe what you read on Greek Rank.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this website at all costs.

4. Keep your social media classy.

Don't post anything that you wouldn't want your grandmother to see. I can promise you girls from every chapter are creeping hard on your social media so now is not the time to post about boys and booze. Keep it clean, you never know who is watching.

5. You will be asked:

Where are you from?

What is your major?

Why did you decide to go through rush?

Every house is going to ask you these. Go ahead and prepare your answers ahead of time and be ready to elaborate!

6. Dress to impress.

Dress in a way that expresses who you are as a person, this is your time to shine. (Keep it classy).

7.Being a legacy is cool but don't focus on it.

Being a legacy to a house is great and can help you out at times but don't let it limit your options. Your mom's chapter may not be the best chapter for you and that's okay.

8. Keep an open mind.

You may think that you know exactly what house you want going into it and guess what your probably wrong...don't limit your options.

9. Getting dropped from your favorite chapter is not the end of the world.

Do not focus on the chapters that dropped you. Focus on the chapters that brought you back day after day., those are the girls that truly care and want to get to know you.

10. Be the best version of yourself.

Be genuine...you want a house to pick you for who you truly are.

11. Keep it refined.

Be genuine but also make sure you're keeping it classy.

12. Surround yourself with people you aspire to be like.

You become who you surround yourself with. Pick a chapter that is filled with girls that you can look up to and will push you to be a better person.

13. Don't talk to the other girls going through rush.

As weird as this sounds, don't talk to the girls that are going through rush with you. What other people think doesn't matter, this is all about you and how you feel. Find something besides rush to talk about while waiting in between parties.

14. Do talk to your Gamma Chi / Rho Gamma / Rho Mu.

You will have girls who disaffiliate with their chapters and will be there to help you through rush. These girls are going to be there for you every step of the way and have been trained in how to handle just about every situation.

15. Pay attention to the conversations you have at each house.

The houses where you have the most genuine conversations are the houses that you should really consider. Be prepared to talk about Netflix and food.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
