Lopes up! Grand Canyon University is the best university in Arizona...this is coming from a biased Lope. The students are the nicest kids in town and the faculty truly care about the students. It's always a fun time on campus at GCU! Here some of the things that make the Lopes so proud of their school.

1. The food

GCU is full of restaurant choices! We don't have a cafeteria, per say, but we do have lots of dining options in the Student Union and scattered throughout campus.

2. The athletics

GCU works really hard in their athletic department. We are known for our unstoppable basketball team, but lots of new facilities are being built to accommodate even more sports.

3. The fact that our mascot is an antelope

Yeah. It's pretty awesome. Antelopes are far too underrated and do not get the recognition they deserve.

4. The view

Every single evening there is yet another breathtaking sunset gracing the valley. It never gets old.

5. The faculty

The professors and other staff at GCU are incredible. They are always kind, helpful, and encouraging. Everyone is happy to be there and to help you in any way they can.

6. The dorms

The dorms are great. No communal bathrooms, suite style with common rooms, and great views.

7. The color purple

"Paint the valley purple" as we say. Everything is purple at GCU and we wouldn't have it any other way!

8. The construction

While this would seem like a negative thing, we try to stay positive here at GCU, so we can't wait to see what amazing thing they build next!

9. The school spirit

There is SO much school spirit here at GCU! We are home to the best student section in the nation!

10. Chapel

Chapel can be taken for class credit here, but that's not what makes it great. There are always awesome speakers and great worship! It makes Mondays a whole lot better!

11. The Gathering

The Gathering is even cooler than Chapel because everyone that goes is there by choice without any college credit. It is an awesome night for worship and prayer!

12. Service and volunteer opportunities

There are a lot of different service opportunities to get involved in at GCU. You could help kids Saturday morning at Canyon Kids, help run a youth group for middle schoolers on Tuesday nights, or get involved in missions opportunities.

13. The smallness

Not everyone loves the big university atmosphere. GCU provides the opportunity to go to a small school. Campus is walkable and classes are small enough to make students feel comfortable asking questions, allowing them to get to know their professors better.

14. The concerts and shows

Concerts come to GCU all the time. The best part is, we get discounts on tickets! We have had artists like Casting Crowns, Matthew West, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Chris Young!

15. The term "Lopes up!"

We say this a lot. At games, while going to class, and even when we go home to our families. It is a source of pride and a statement as to how much we love our school!

Go GCU! Lopes up!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
