15 Texts You Get From Your Mom When You're In College
February Film And TV

When you move away to college, your mom will probably text you daily. Whether it's just to say hello or to remind you to call your uncle to wish him a happy birthday, she's always got a reason. How many of these text messages do you recieve from your mom while you're away at school?

1. "When will you be home next?"

This is her way of telling you that she misses you a lot and wants you to come home this weekend, or ASAP.

2. "Have you met anyone cute lately?"

Every mom is SUPER invested in their child's love life, even if they don't act like it. While you lived at home, she could secretly look over your shoulder. Now that you're away at college, she has to resort to texting you for updates.

3. "Don't over-work yourself!"

Your mom really does have your best interest in mind. So, take her advice and don't over-work yourself.

4. "Do you need money?"

Somehow, she always sends this text right when you need it. As a college student, it's hard to keep your bank account over $11.48 and it's always helpful when your mom can spare a few extra dollars.

5. "Good morning! I hope you weren't up too late last night!"

Personally, I have my mom on all social media (including Snapchat), so she always knows when I'm out until four A.M. She still sends me these texts though, just to make sure I am sleeping every once in a while.

6. "I miss you lots!"

It's nice to be reminded that our moms miss us just as much as we miss them. We may get homesick, but I'm sure that they often dream about driving up to our universities and scooping us up for the weekend!

7. "When is the last time you ate?"

Well, I ate a fruit roll up a few hours ago... And a McDonald's sandwich this morning... Oh, the last time I ate a homecooked meal? Probably the last time I was home...

8. "Are you coming to the next family event/holiday?"

It's often hard to make the trip home for every family event, but how can you say no to your mom?

9. "How's your car running?"

It's nice to know that even from hours away, your mom is still looking out for you.

10. "How are your classes going?"

Even though college is a special experience, the main reason for being there is so that you can get an education. So, when your mom asks you about your classes, talk to her about them. I'm sure she'd love to hear you rant about your biology professor or that hard exam you took yesterday.

11. "I love you!"

"I love you too, Mom!" And more than you'll ever know.

12. "Tell me all about your roommates!"

I think this text is secretly her inviting you to rant about why your roommates are currently annoying you.

13. "Your pets miss you!"

These texts usually come with a picture attached and a phone call later in the day so that your "pets" can spend some quality time on the phone with you.

14. "What are you learning in your classes?"

This is her secret "Mom-Way" of asking how many classes you skipped this week and if you actually paid attention in the ones that you did go to... LOL.

15. "Have fun while you're away, but be safe!"

Every mom knows that they can't control their child's life while they're away at college, and they don't want to. All they want to do is make sure that their child is having fun while being safe.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
