1. Trust

In order to be in a long distance relationship, you need to fully trust the person you're with. This can be hard for some people to do.

2. No spontaneous pizza dates

You can't just text him and say "Hey I'm bored want to go get pizza?" whenever you feel like it, because he lives so far away from you.

3. Travel costs

Having to pay for gas money, flight cost, or whatever it takes to see your boyfriend/girlfriend. You both better have a good paying job!

4. Mastering Skype

Mastering the art of video chatting whenever and wherever possible.

5. Seeing other couples

Seeing and knowing of other couples who get to see each other every day makes you super jealous and angry. You sometimes catch yourself thinking "why can't I have that?"

6. Emotions

When plans get canceled you get very upset (and you have every reason to). This can lead to fights or a lot of crying.

7. Being busy with your daily routine

Jobs/ school/ home life get in the way of plans a lot of the time or even talking throughout the day. It's hard to talk when you're so busy, but you'll get through it!

8. Cherish every moment together

You have to learn to cherish every moment that you spend with your significant other.

9. Ignoring the doubters

A lot of people doubt your relationship and make judgments on if it will last or not. But do not listen to a word other people say. If you're happy, that's all that matters!

10. Intimicay

Lack of physical intimacy can be hard to deal with. Usually intimacy is a big part of a relationship, but when you can't see each other that often, sometimes that's hard to handle.

11. Overthinking

You tend to overthink a lot. You overthink about your future with your boyfriend/girlfriend. If you trust the person enough to keep doing this, keep doing it.

12. Counting down the time

You're constantly counting down the days, minutes, hours, and seconds until you get to see your significant other again. The waiting causes awful anxiety.

13. Missing milestones

Both of you can't celebrate every milestone together which includes birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and much more. You just have to accept it and move on.

14. Jealousy

Jealousy is hard to deal with. With so many social media sites you can easily see what your significant other is doing and who they are with during the day. As long as they update their status, snapchat story, tweet,.. Etc. You sometimes ask them "who'd you go to the beach with?" Or "who's ___?"

15. Saying goodbye

The worst of all is saying goodbye when they leave. It doesn't matter how many more minutes they stay or if they catch another flight in the morning. They will have to leave at some point and it's heartbreaking.

At the end of the day, if you both have trust, open communication, and Internet to be able to Skype, the relationship should be fine. Every relationship has its ups and downs, but eventually you'll get through it.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.
