15 Steps Of Just Trying To 'Print Something Out' At The Campus Library

We've all been there. And maybe we're spending the night in the library cramming for an exam and have finally decided to print out class PowerPoints and that graph that you never really understood, but is definitely going to be on the test. But of course, because life isn't easy, the printers at school have a mind of their own, and it's never a simple road to get that shining white paper hot off the presses.

1. You enter the library "just to print something out."

2. Desktops to the left, coffee to the right ... here I am. Stuck in the middle with that decision.

3. All caffeined up, you sit down only to be distracted by freshman football players bored with mandatory study hall.

4. You pause to realize that your library is more of a social club than an actual place to get homework done.

5. You've finally gone to the class website and managed to open the document without a problem and question how short-lived this smooth sailing has to be.

6. You press print and say a prayer that this all turns out OK.

7. You look to Reference South, and, of course, it's not working. And, of course, that's where you've sent your stuff.

8. Round 2. Reference North.

9. Print. Undoubtedly, you're behind the guy printing an entire novel.

10. Finally, you can see what you've printed is slowly but surely adding up. Just when it has to about halfway through, ERROR flashes across the screen.

11. Paper. Jam. You've got to be kidding me.

12. You notify the attendant; they finally get around to fixing it while you're complaining with your friend about how "ridiculous" this campus is.

13. You've basically given up on trying to find where the printer left off, have recycled whatever came out and completely started over.

14. Print. *says another little prayer*

15. Finally. Paper in hand, and you can be on your merry way (even though you'll probably hang around and socialize for a while).

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
