August 23rd -- that's the first day of school for me this year. I've had three weeks since my last final, meaning three weeks of arts and crafts, working, It's Always Sunny and finishing season 12 of Grey's Anatomy. Come Tuesday, all of that changes and I start my senior year. Whether you're like me and you're a super senior doing your victory lap, or this is your first year of college (you fresh faced, youth, you) these are a few tips to make sure you get the semester off on the right foot.

1. Make sure you stay up all night before the first day of school.

Whether it's crippling, general anxiety or a Netflix and Pinterest binge, make sure that you sleep less than four hours so that first day you'll drink a ton of coffee, be super jittery, and have that wonderful exhaustion fueled stream of consciousness all day.

2. Go ahead and live life on the edge and switch to decaf.

It's so much better for you long-term. Nothing like trying to kick your addiction on the first day of school.

3. Don't get your parking pass until the first day.

Surely Parking services understands that you're a busy bee. Besides, what are school parking tickets anyway?

4. Show up fashionably late for class.

You don't want to give your professor the wrong impression.

5. Stop by for a chat at Financial Aid.

Those ladies and gentlemen usually look like they don't have much going on, especially for the first few days. They'll be looking forward to your small talk.

6. Walk across the Drill Field.

Why not? It's so much easier to get to class that way.

7. Buy a lanyard.

So many pretty colors and so convenient!

8. Take your 15-minute break in between class to run by the bookstore.

Won't be packed, promise. They'll be ecstatic to see you.

9. Purchase all your books, brand new, from your university book store on your first day.

You want to be super prepared for class, so don't wait. They might sell out. And you already know you'll definitely need your textbook, professor said so.

10. For your 8 a.m. Class, shoot to hit the parking lot at 7:55 a.m.

Parking is always easy to find and convenient.

11. Ask as many questions as you can think of in class.

There's a real chance that the first day is going to just be syllabus day, so the class should end early. What a perfect opportunity to quiz the professor!

12. Set your alarm for 10 minutes later than normal.

Treat yourself, you beautiful smart student you.

13. Wear your Sunday best to class.

Dress to impress.

14. Park your car in the F/S spots.

For Student, duh.

15. Make sure to follow this advice:

Have a great semester, everyone!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
