Wednesday, June 21st will mark the first day of summer this year – and hopefully the beginning of good weather, lazy afternoons by the pool, and late night bonfires with good friends. What’s missing from all of this? A decent summer playlist you can throw on for any occasion! Something to listen to while driving with the windows down, or while roasting marshmallows to perfect golden-brown perfection. Stay tuned for my take on this summer’s hottest hits so far, and don’t forget to add your favorites to your Spotify lists!

1. "Body Like A Backroad" by Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt’s song style is the perfect mix of talking and singing – perfect for shouting at the top of your lungs, or just enjoying while dancing with your friends.

2. "She's With Me" by High Valley

Let everyone know she’s all yours and be thankful you got as lucky as you did! High Valley provides the perfect song for reminding your girl how good you have it with her.

3. "Flatliner" by Cole Swindell and Dierks Bentley

Because everyone needs a song in their playlist where the phrase “dang, girl,” is used more than once. Plus it’s catchy, upbeat, and easy to dance to!

4. "You Look Good" by Lady Antebellum

Need a little pick me up? You can’t go wrong with Lady A or this hit song of theirs.

5. "Happy People" by Little Big Town

This group’s song is a reminder of how to be a little nicer to the people around you, and to yourself. Don’t forget about what makes you happy this summer!

6. "Yeah Boy" by Kelsea Ballerini

When Kelsea came on the scene, country and pop music fans everywhere fell head over heels for her music. This song is just as good as her previous music, if not better, and definitely worth a listen.

7. "Hometown Girl" by Josh Turner

Everyone has gone home for the summer, and there’s a very good chance you might run into that “homegrown, hometown” girl you’ve been looking for.

8. "Heart Break" by Lady Antebellum

So your relationship has ended before you could enjoy the summer together. If you’re looking to stay single for the summer, this song from Lady Antebellum is a good fit for you.

9. "Sleep Without You" by Brett Young

If you’re in a relationship, you know sometimes it can be hard to fall asleep without your partner by your side. Remind yourself that they’ll be home soon enough with this feel good song.

10. "Think A Little Less" by Michael Ray

Your reminder from country star Michael Ray that it’s okay to think a little less sometimes. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut or do what your heart wants you to do.

11. "May We All" by Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw

May we all listen to this song and get a little more perspective on life. Honestly, the song will sell itself, give it a listen.

12. "Made In America" by Toby Keith

With Independence Day coming up, get your patriotic on with this anthem from Toby Keith. Don’t be afraid to dress in red, white, and blue while listening to this song.

13. "Huntin', Fishin' And Lovin' Every Day" by Luke Bryan

Props go to Luke Bryan for the longest song title so far on this playlist. Even if you aren’t into hunting and fishing, I can bet you’re into loving each and every day. Give this song a try!

14. "Church Bells" by Carrie Underwood

Honestly, if Carrie hasn’t scared you a little bit with her retribution-fueled songs, you haven’t been listening to her music enough. Add this to your playlist, immediately.

15. "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" by Jake Owen

To end this playlist, I present to you the ultimate country-themed summer song. If you’ve never had yourself a barefoot blue jean night in the middle of the summer; turn this song up, take your shoes off, and enjoy every moment.

That’s all for now! Fifteen songs to get you started on your summer playlist. Pick and choose your favorites, or add all of them for some more variety to what you already listen to! Enjoy your summer, and keep a look out for more summer hits from your favorite artists. It’s the best season for new music!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
