Something I've always loved about music are the lyrics themselves. I love a good song I can just jam to and sing at the top of my lungs for fun. But there comes a time for some, when you just need a good song to express how you feel, to really connect too.

Sometimes songs are pretty important to me because of the lyrics, what they're saying. It can send a message to someone, or it can be something you just really needed to hear in the moment. It can express your feelings. It can take you back to a time that was simpler, or even have a certain memory attached to it.

Below, I've complied a list of songs that I just love. Not because they may be catchy (although some of them are), but because of the lyrics. Maybe it was something I needed to hear at the time, or maybe it said something I've been trying to say but couldn't find the right words too. Just listen.

1. I Won't Let You Go (Radio Version) - Switchfoot

2. Old Church Choir - Zach Williams

3. Hills and Valleys - Tauren Wells

4. Healing Begins - Tenth Avenue North

5. Brave (feat. Andy Mineo) - Moriah Peters

6. Breathe - Jonny Diaz

7. Magnify - We Are Messengers

8. Give Me Faith - Elevation Worship

9. It Is Well (Radio Mix) Bethel Music & Kristene Dimarco *disclaimer: the original by Kristene, is always better*

*another disclaimer: You Make Me Brave is also a really good song*

10. By Your Side - Tenth Avenue North

11. Broken Hallelujah - The Afters

12. Worn - Tenth Avenue North

13. Overcomer - Mandisa

14. Giants Fall - Francesca Battistelli

15. Mended - Matthew West

*disclaimer: this album altogether is just really good*

16. Wish - Lecrae

17. Oh Lord - NF

*disclaimer: there are actually several songs I could list here. Both of his albums are gold.

This list could've honestly gone on forever. I listen, and I mean really listen, to a lot of music. I have a ton of favorites, and these are just the select few. I encourage you to do the same to your own music. If you get the chance, share it like I did.

Give these a listen too, if you want as well.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
