Besides being “Iowa nice,” witnessing some of the best sunsets over corn fields in the middle of July, watching the Hawks in Kinnick Stadium on a Saturday, or spending many summer days on the river or lake; here’s a couple more signs that you might be from Iowa.
1. You’ve probably met more presidential candidates than you can count on two hands.
2. You’ve probably also seen the United States President and/or Vice President a couple of times.
3. Snow Days are an urban legend unless there is a foot of snow on the ground.
4. Puppy Chow is not just a dog food, it’s one of the greatest snacks around.
5. “Pop” isn’t a noise, it’s a carbonated beverage aka Coca-Cola, Pepsi, etc.
6. You’ve experienced all four seasons, two tornadoes, a blizzard, and an ice storm all in 24 hours.
7. Forty degrees in February calls for shorts and a light jacket.
8. Culver’s is the best fast food chain around.
9. You’ve seen at least one country artist perform at a fair.
10. You’ve had a pork chop on a stick.
11. Few things rival a tenderloin sandwich.
12. Not remembering a night in Iowa City is checked off your bucket list. And probably a tailgate too.
13. Hawkeyes, Cyclones or Panthers.
14. You’ve said “No we aren’t the state with the potatoes. That’s Idaho.”
15. You’ve seen the world famous butter cow at least once.
